She also looks "ambiguously brown" to me.
The post I linked to said that the official site had confirmed that she's Chinese.
but there's no China in the Pokemon world so I'm guessing they mean she is based off of some kind of Chinese ethnic group. She just looks like a barbarian tree-dweller really
we don't need to question, it's just no one had responded to this poor post so I was willing to be the first.
....No, no it didn't. He brought up the official site as evidence that she's a Chinese archetype, but no where did he say it was absolutely confirmed.
And maybe she is Chinese. But I wouldn't put it above the PC to make her black, just without the stereotypical black look in Anime(to avoid another controversy such as Jynx).

Oh please, Wargle is so based on Native Americans, there's not a doubt as far as I'm concerned. It's a war eagle, the eagle was a common symbol of war and valor for Native Americans, and then you have its obvious Native chief headdress.
But Pokemon have been based on foreign legends and myths and symbols even when the regions have been based in Japan, so that point is pretty much moot regardless.
Also, there weren't too many black people (looking at you Aloe) in China last time I checked (which was never, but you know) ;o
This whole argument basically stems from patriotism for whatever country, but oh well, 'cause I know I'd love for Isshu to be based on NYC as much as any of 'em 8>

Just because wargle might be based off of american indians doesn't mean the region is based off of America. I doubt this is true anyway.
