Ruling is this odd?

so i went to target over the weekend and this booster pack + promo card pack was calling to me so i picked it up and took a peek at it and noticed the card behind the normal DP pack wasnt inside a plastic case. So i looked at it at a very close angle and saw it sed Charmeleon. so i bought it. not really sure why..
the weird part was it WAS NOT a promo card
it turned out to be a [H] Charmeleon 110/109 from Team Rocket Returns.

do these things happen often? cuz i'm gnona start checking those lil blister pack things more often ahaha

but what's weirder is that it wasnt mint. there is a small but visible scratch on the face and the edges arent quite mint
i'd say its about 85% mint
like it was somebody elses and they put it inside the pack when it was being sealed or something

ahahaha
does anybody have any ideas why this happened? or am i just overanalyzing this and these things happen all the time?
 
Either packing error or you have just bought a fake pack. Most likely the first. Many of us has got non-mint cards that include a big tear or a scratch. But I've never heard of a non-foil secret rare and from another set too. Hence my opinion of you buying a fake pack.
 
I'm 95% postive charmeleon was in TRR as 110. I'm just too lazy to look up to conferm. Just look at the set lists on the front page or pokepedia.

oh and Thou Shall Sleep - it is holo and legit
 
Oh I didn't really bother reading. I thought you were asking if the card existed or something. Well anyways, they usually don't do that, but it could happen...but at target? Probly an error.
 
well target doesnt make the product
and it was sealed and all. i checked cuz it was kinda fishy when i first saw it
they never have many of those kinds of packs for sale there
its kinda cool

If it is 110/109 you probably got a secret rare card. They are so hard to get and they are ultra rare. It is probably a promo from that set but I don't think it was supposed to be in that pack though but you did get an ultra rare.:)
 
Yeah, it's a secret rare thingy >.> Here Comes Team Rocket, Celebi EX UF, Mew HP, Pikachu LM, Rocket's Persian EX, all were cards that were outside the set's number list thingy. Look it up, it's on the scans.
 
yeah i'm not asking about the numbering being weird cuz i totally understand stuff like that
i'm just wondering if somethin like this has every happened to anybody else
 
Yes, Target/WalMart sells a one-booster blister package at an overpriced $4.50 that comes with a "promo" card, which is usually just some old card. I knew what you were talking about when you said you could see the card at an angle cuz that's what I do :p
 
I have never heard of a one booster blister pack...

Odds are it is just PUSA getting rid of old stock by putting them with old promos that they still have truckloads of.

Any card number that exceeds the set number on the right like in this case as 110/109 is a secret rare card which means this card is very valuable to collectors around the globe. Use a Piece of printer paper to put the card safely in a flimsy sleeve and put it in a hard cover sleeve. I have a secret rare Articuno from EX FR/LG. Take a look at that card online. It is the same way as this card except it is a different set,set number and Pokemon but it is a secret rare. They are very hard to get. You will have to pay out a lot of dough for secret rares or just get lucky like you did. Don't worry it is not a misprint or mistake.:)

i know what secret rares are i pulled a Dark Raichu outta team rocket returns way back in the day
but the weird part was how it was where a promo card should be and it wasnt even packaged up or nothin
 
Oh it was packaged in a blister pack right? Not all of them have promos. Some doo have secret rares instead of promos. Sometimes they will release past cards with a newer rease set as a collectors item. A little while back I got 2 EX booster packs packaged withe Pokemon 3's theater release of Entei and I did not know it was him until I got home and were both the same Entei.:)
