I've Heard That The Pack Weighing Problem Has Been Solved

Hey guys, I am new to the game but I've heard so much about a pack weighing problem.

Someone on reddit told me that it's been solved (ie. All packs that are Breakthrough(?) and newer have weight adjustments).

Why is it that I haven't found this anywhere else? I can't find the information on youtube or on the Pokemon website.

That said, is this a hack proof solution? I don't feel comfortable purchasing packs (online or in store) unless I know I'm not going to be scammed :/

Packs from Breakpoint on have different code cards to prevent weighing. When you get a holo, Ex, or Full Art, the code card will be lighter. It looks like the normal code cards from the past few sets (Ancient Origins, Breakthrough, etc.) When you get a regular rare the code card is slightly heavier and is completely green. Interestingly, packs with Breaks in them have the new, green code card.

I think that weighing is still possible, but it is definitely much harder. This is especially true in stores like Walmart or Target where the packs are in cardboard.

If you still don't feel comfortable, then maybe you could get some of the blisters or an Elite Trainer Box,

A good way to see if a seller scales packs is to read reviews and see if people mention getting good cards out of the packs. Most sellers don't scale packs though, so you can be confident in your purchases. :)

Thanks so much for the awesome response. That was really informative.

What exactly is a "blister"?

Also, I'll check out some of those reviews to find good sellers. Do you recommend anyone? Also, what's your opinion on those eBay lots where it's advertised as something like "100 cards, 5 rare, 4 rev. holo, 1 guaranteed EX or full art"? I just bought one but I am unsure if they will give me a good card or not. I don't want to get a steelix EX or something, since I paid 5 extra dollars to get a random EX card and steelix EX is only like 3 bucks.

A blister is something like these, where the pack is usually accompanied by a coin, promo card, or other packs. Examples are the blisters that come with three packs and a pin, and the ones that contain one pack, a coin, and an extra card.

As for eBay sellers, mechajc is a good one. You could also check out sellers on the Pokebeach forums, there may be some selling packs.

Card lots such as the one you mentioned are usually ok, but not a great value. You can often get a lot of duplicates, and the Ex/"premium card" is pretty much always something of low value. If you can find one at a low price, it might be fun to see if you get something good, but otherwise steer clear. I hope you found this useful, have a nice day or night!

Oh cool and mechajc sells lots. I'll buy from him next time!
