Japanese Card Usage

I'm aware that you are currently allowed to use six Japanese cards in your deck for the remainder of the season, but does anyone know if we will be able to use any Japanese cards next season?

It's been said by TPCi in many different locations that Foreign Language Cards will not be allowed in sanctioned tournaments.

I find that rule REALLLLLY dumb.

Ok, the card is in Japanese, so what? Its doesnt make drawing it out any easier. It doesnt do anything different then the ENG ones. And as long as your sleeves are non see through, you cant tell the difference.

The card is still the same card.

The issue was not that the backs are different, but that having to look up cards and read translations is disruptive. Which I can understand after playing people with all Japanese decks. But that was just the excuse. I think in reality they wanted to curb people buying japanese boxes because they come out sooner and have better ratios. This way they make more money and the japanese company makes less.

Nah that shouldn't be an issue, 6 cards is hardly disruptive. Especially if it's well known cards such as trainers.

15.9. Japanese Cards
Players are permitted to use Japanese cards at Premier Events for the 2009–2010 tournament season. All rules regarding the use of foreign‐language cards, as outlined in Section 15.8., must be adhered to. Players will not be permitted to use Japanese cards for Premier Events starting with the 2010–2011 tournament season.
If enough people complain they may change it.

2 cards is enough to be disruptive. There's a reason we had so many rules changes this year, and it's because people were abusing certain systems. In this case, there were a good number of people abusing the translation rules.

That's why the change.

The flip side to this "disruptive" statement is that many cards such as Uxie are well known by everyone.
What experienced player doesnt know about Uxie or Luxray GL???? I mean really.

I think they should stick to the 6 card limit. That way the player can have the eng copy next the game the whole time. It would take maybe 30 seconds to look over and read it. Hmmm.

Not everyone is an experienced player though. You have to remember that. Events other than Worlds are open to anyone which includes new players.~Mark

Thats just it right there.

At large events such as worlds, everyone is familiar with most any card you will see. Plus, since it worlds, foregn cards are expected. (duh) lol So in this case it shouldnt be a problem.

Now with smaller things like leagues, the setting is casual so again it shouldnt matter. In a casual setting no one really minds if you take a few seconds to look up a translation ect.

Either way, foregn cards should not be a problem.
