Make sure your sleeves dont show the back of the card in any way. Japanese cards have different backs. The prerelease sleeves are great sleeves for this stuff.
Have a copy of the card-dex for the card handy AT ALL TIMES.
Fulfill those requirements and you got yourself a tourney legal japanese Gardevoir X.

Sorry to tell you, but it does matter. You can't use a Japanese card that has different artwork than the one in the English version of the card, even if the wording is the same.
