Hey there everyone. I thought it would be great to get a discussion on Japanese decklists. I will start out by posting one and every few days, I will post another. It's a great way to see what our brothers from Japan are up to, and how they view deck building.

Klinklang has garnered some hype with the release of Plasma Storm, so I thought that Vol. 4 should focus on it. The KeldeoEX is to counter the fire techs that are going to pop up in decks (i.e. V-Create Victini and Moltres NXD).

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 1 - MewtwoEX/KeldeoEX/Musharna

Why 4 Ether but only 2 Pokedex? Musharna is useful but not as good as Pokedex for sure.

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 1 - MewtwoEX/KeldeoEX/Musharna

I think the reason Musharna was used was not only for top-deck manipulation, but also extra draw which wouldn't hurt. Having 2+ Musharna in play means you get 2 extra cards per turn, and 3 cards to look at to fit an energy on top of the deck. Not to mention you can catch multiple energy with Pokedex, but only take one with Ether.

That, or ran out of space? Ether's more important to max out as it's the means of energy accel; it's like not maxing out on Dark Patch (Maybe not so with Sableye recycling them)

The thing that bothers me is the 4 Pluspower. Why not use Hypnotoxin beam? It's in every way better than Pluspower (except Togekiss, but that's not the point), can do more damage over time, and can even take advantage of Virbank City Gym should they be playing it to boost your own damage. Also, it lets you not use your Munna's ability and take the tiny risk involved (Like, if you don't have a Geared-up Keldeo ready to take the place of the active, etc.)

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 1 - MewtwoEX/KeldeoEX/Musharna

Keep in mind this was probably BW1-BW6 so Plasma cards were not introduced yet.

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 2 - Hand Denial

^Yeah exactly.
Grant: Try something out before you say that it looks bad.

Anyway, volume 2 is up.

This looks like a really fun deck. However, I would maybe try Colress > Juniper. It helps you if your opponent has many Pokémon out and that's not a very desirable situation so it gives you more options in a bad situation. Juniper is ofc consistently good, so dunno. Colress can't be that much worse that it's not worth it? It's really about personal preference though.

Notice I said it LOOKS bad, not it IS bad, because I didn't try it. Nothing wrong with that, just stating my opinion.

If you draw 2-3 cards off of it, which isn't uncommon based on the small amount of testing I've done, then it's terrible. I do like Colress, but Supporters need to be reliable and Colress is really bad early game.

Anyway, I actually did some quick proxy testing with this and it's really fun to play. Once you get the lock up, it's almost impossible to break it. However, it's flippiness and reliance on your opponent not topdecking something before you can get a Watcheck off means this deck probably isn't that competitive. It's still great for having fun matches though.

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 2 - Hand Denial

Zach showed me this second one at a Cities, and I thought "Gosh, this game is getting more and more like YuGiOh."

This is cool stuff, and while I'm very confused by it, I'm sure it can be a powerful rogue when used right.

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 2 - Hand Denial

This deck looks like garbage to me, but I'd rather just use the Sporeprise Amoonguss, making it more of a status deck. I really don't see the point though

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 2 - Hand Denial

The point of this deck is to leave your opponent with no hand, and then you can control what they draw via Watchog.

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 2 - Hand Denial

This thread gives me some hope for the game. I like the strategy and everything. Please keep posting these lists. I love 'em.

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 2 - Hand Denial

Next up will be an interesting take on Eels (after I get done with some work today).

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 2 - Hand Denial

Wait, why didn't the first version include DCE? Am I missing something?

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 2 - Hand Denial

Nope, they just went for the all Ether based route instead of including DCE. I was legit shocked too.

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 3 - Lord ZED

I actually did a couple games of solitaire with this, and it's amazingly fun to play. Darkrai giving everything free retreat is where this deck shines and the dual acceleration from Eels and Dark Patch is pretty cool.

That said, I don't think it's that competitive. It's very clunky and requires a lot of set up to actually work, meanwhile Landorus can rampage through this deck with ease. I also disagree with a lot of the list, like the 2 Colress and Rocky Helmet. This deck needs to fit Switch in somewhere.

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 3 - Lord ZED

This is one I'ma gonna test/build because it seems AWESOME. Anyways, were are you finding these at, because it could be helpful for us to know, and what about a strategy?

Anyways to the deck... GO AWAY TORNADUS EP HELLO TORNADUS EX :) Makes it twice as good IMO.

RE: Japanese decklists - Vol. 3 - Lord ZED

This looks...interesting. While I don't like the dual acceleration, I can see where they were coming from with Darkrai giving Eels free retreat. It's not a lot more than a curiosity to me, it is something.
