Well, as you probably have guessed, i am a player who has stopped for some while and came back playing just lately.
Is there anybody who could please tell me why this Jirachu DX is so good?:(
I mean, looking in many decklists i see many of you esteem this card a lot.
But I simply don't get what is the gain in taking one card among the first 5 if your active pokemons are now asleep. This way you can't even attack, can you? It could easily end up in a trade between 1 card from your deck and one prize for your opponent.:(

Thanks for your explanations:D

It's an excellent starter. You get to pick a card from the top 5 cards of your deck. It's excellent with the Holon Engine and T2 decks.

There's a 50% chance that the sleep will be gone by your next turn, so it isn't a huge problem for what it does.

Actually, you have a 75% chance of waking up, so the odds are in your favor. If you remain asleep when it's your turn again, consider it bad luck. More often than not, you'll wake up.

You can also use Swoop! Teleporter to replace DX Jirachi with any other Basic in your deck, then evolve them immediately (thus eliminating the Sleep condition). This is one of the most common uses for Jirachi. Other than that, Jirachi will usually retreat to the Bench after you're set up sufficiently and sit there until you have/want to bring it out again.

Jirachi has been known to go on the offensive as well. It's a decent way to tackle things with Safeguard, as you're doing 50 for 2 Energy. Jirachi also resists Grass, which makes it a decent counter against Dustox ex (resistance, and extra damage from Safeguard). Basics with Poké-Bodies and 50 HP die in one hit. Nearly every Stage 1 dies in two. Can't get much better than that.

You mean you use Jirachi's power 1st turn and then attack the second. (If you are not sleeping)
It's attack is good because many often-used pokemons have a poke-body, wich means you'll often do 50 for 2 energies. :D
Anyway, it's usefulness is limited to decks with many metal energies and ways to get them back.
And if you fight against a pokemon wich hasn't got a poke body you only deal 20 damage, starting from your second turn, wich often means you will lose an useful metal energy on a short lifed pokemon and let your opponent draw a prize.:(
I think I understand now. Jirachi is a situational card. It can either be very good or very bad, and many people prefer to think it is good.;)

No, no, not like that. The new Holon's Electrode/Magneton/Castform can be used to pay for the Metal requirement. Jirachi is never used to attack during the first few turns, because Wishing Star makes you go to sleep and you normally will not wake up during that same turn.

You keep a single Energy on it so you can retreat it, swoop evolve it, or if you really need to, attach Holon's Castform/Magtrode and attack.

Jirachi isn't usually used to attack, but it can be sometimes useful against Pokemon that give your deck huge problems (e.g. Dewgong, Dustox ex). It's usually used like this:

T1: Use wishing star to get a Swoop! Teleporter if there isn't already one in your hand.

...

T2: Use Swoop! Teleporter to get your basic pokemon, then evolve it.

Some examples of these decks are T2 Medicham ex, Arcanine ex, Scixor ex, Jynx, and Dark Steelix.
