Junior Moderators?

Well, according to what one of the supermods told me (I forget which, this was a while ago) ,we already have "junior mods", just they are called differently. TC, CC, Expert, Strategists, and TCG rules can all be classified as "junior mods" (some restrictions apply, I know), so bringing up "Junior mods" again will just raise the amount of posts and threads about people wanting to be one. I say keep it as is.

They aren't Junior Mods.

IMO. No. I just say keep it the way it is. We already have ten Mods. So if we lose 1 we still have more than Super-Mods.

I think it would be an idea... we haven't had them in quite some while.

And WPM would see who would fit the position as a mod if he elected some people as Junior Mods that he thinks might have the chance to take on such a position. I'm up for it. I think the whole concept of a junior moderator in training is a neat idea. :]

i think it could work...
it would probably end up to where it wouldnt be:
member----->jr mod

but instead...
member-------->trade/clan/strat/etc
and
trade/clan/strat/etc----------->jr mod

I agree. Because its good to give potential mods a chance to prove themself with limitted power.

My input is no. Let's not add to the confusion of the forums... ;P

This.

The whole concept added so much confusion last Summer that I had to start a thread. You know it's bad when...

dmaster out.

Either way, both of your comments should be towards PM, as they have nothing to do with the situation at hand; the future.

I also believe that a junior moderator program would be beneficial, but only if we shed some of the excess off.
I'm tempted to say that this post should be in PMs too. ;p

You guys are just excited about the idea that you can get a chance to become mods. Whenever a topic about being forum staff comes up, everyone comes in and starts discussing about it, trying to hide their "I wanna be a mod" feelings. Any discussion about forum staff seems to be a magnet for numerous members. Look, I'm falling for this too and voicing my opinions in this thread, even though I don't want to be a mod. It's quite amusing.

From what I remember, the junior moderator position was rather useless. The people in the group were basically moderators without a chance to talk to the rest of the staff. The confusion it caused was not good either. In fact, even I didn't know what exactly was going on with them. Nevertheless, the members selected were excellent choices, and it was good that all of them were promoted. I used to think that adding junior moderators was a great idea, but now I feel that testing out how well a potential mod can do is not good; if the person is good enough, he should be added to the mods straight away, without the need to test their capability. Creating a position to act as a "stepping stone" for members to become mods might encourage people to... become mad over becoming mods.

Ah, I agree with Juliacoolo that while the other staff groups may not be officially junior mods, they are in some ways with their limited moderating powers. This is a controversial topic that I'd like to avoid, because I'm wondering if the creation of these usergroups (including those that I made) encouraged people to want to join the staff for the sake of it even more. Fortunately, the current mods don't choose new ones randomly. You see, there are many law-abiding members who aren't staff out there, but we can't make everyone mods. We'd have too many, and we'd end up like SPPf. As I stated earlier, the junior mods that we had were just like normal mods who didn't have the green name and couldn't share in discussions with the rest. It's better to stick with what we have, small usergroups who specialise in certain duties rather than having a usergroup with generic forum duties.

That's enough for now. We appreciate the comments of all of our regular rule-abiding members.

Let's not create any more confusion with misinformation here.
