XY Keeping Track of Your Pokémon?

Well, I'm relatively new to Pokemon in general, and I've just gotten to the Battle Institute bit...
I'm sorry if this has been asked many times before, but I was just wondering what sort of program you guys use to keep track of what you have, in the way of skill types, hp and such.
I've tried to use Word, and admittedly I have almost no skill whatsoever with these things, but I wasn't really able to achieve what I needed at all, even with columns. Spreadsheet didn't work because I couldn't name my rows. Writing in a physical notebook is not searchable, lol.
Am I just not using one of these correctly, or is there a specific other program that's perfect for this?
Thanks~

RE: Keeping track of what you have

One thing i have to say: spreadsheet can work, move your columns over one, and in the first column, label the rows.

RE: Keeping track of what you have

Ah, alright, I'll try that. I'll have to flip the list I wanted on its side, but I'm sure it'll work. I thought someone would have created a program specifically for this by now!

RE: Keeping track of what you have

What exactly are you trying to keep track of? Your in-game team? If so you can just view their information in the game, in or out of battle, and I don't see the purpose of having to record all this in a spreadsheet. It's pretty easy to remember all the moves you have on your pokes in-game and their specific stats don't matter seeing as how piss easy the campaign is.

RE: Keeping track of what you have

I'm with Cinesra as to not understanding what is this "keeping track" about but if it's about IV training, then psychical lists are better because if there's a problem with the PC, then you'll have a problem. I usually use squared paper because it's the best for collumns, numbers, tiles searches (Feebas), etc..

RE: Keeping track of what you have

I just have like 200 different pokemon, all with different abilities etc, and I like them all, but I'm not naturally competitive, so I don't have any set "team." I also like variety so if, say, I know I'm going to need a fire-type, I'd like to be able to look at a bunch of them and see which skills they have that would be most useful. And if I need a certain type, like ice, and none of my favorites are that type, I can look and see if maybe one of them has a good ice-type move anyway. Or a searchable list may be useful for breeding and trading, idk.

(I also just really, really like to make lists... lol)

RE: Keeping track of what you have

That is pretty much exactly what I was talking about, thanks!!!!! ^___^

RE: Keeping track of what you have

Now that I remember, about a year ago, I thought that it would be cool to actually have a program with a breeding calculator and a Pkdex that could be connected to a printer.

About @raichu'slover11's, one thing you can do @dinomelon is to paint the type colunm with a marker (or the letters in the digital version of it) in order to be easier to search through the list when looking for a certain type. That said, you can make your list by alphabetical order, type or region. It's up to you.
