Pokemon:

  • 2 Keldeo EX
    2 Blastoise BCR
    2 Empoleon DEX
    1 Seismitoad EX
    1 Primal Kyogre EX
    1 Suicune PLB
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums:

  • 2 Archie's Ace in Hole
    1 Shauna

    2 Float Stone
    2 Acro Bike
    2 Ultra Ball
    1 Computer Search
    1 Rough Seas
    1 Pal Pad
Energy:

  • 2 Double Colorless
    7 Water
Strategy:

Pokeleague is doing a half deck (30 card tourny). We can only use one type of pokemon. I like Keldeo so I decided to pick water. I also think Archies Ace in Hole card is a fun card to tinker with. I am looking for any advice on how to improve as I am fairly new to game and maybe missing the concept of cards to achieve what I am trying to do. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. To my strategy....

Hopefully open with Suicune for EX barrier or Seismitoad for Quaking Punch. Use Ultra Ball or compuer search or Acro bike to get Keldeo to bench and get Blastoise Empoleon or Primal Kyogre to discard pile. Get a float stone on Keldeo for easy switching. Ideal to hit a turn 1 Blastoise to bench with Abilty to fire up some energy on pokemon. Stadium to heal 30 to water pokemon each turn. Strategy is to load up energy fast and start hitting big attack before opponent can get anything going.

RE: Keldeo EX Blastoise Empolean Half Deck

I suggest VS Seeker instead of Pal Pad, and maybe LTC to prevent deckouts.

What good are VS Seekers going to do if you don't have any Supporters? I suggest a lot of staples like N, Juniper, and Ultra Ball. The half decks aren't very competitive. You'll need 60 cards instead of 30 for a tournament legal deck.

Thanks for advice. I put in my strategy the reason why I need a 30 card deck. The league we attend does themes each week to mix it up a bit and this week its a one type, 30 card deck. There is not a lot of room and cards for that matter to use Juniper so that's why I didn't go with that card. After you deal your 7 starter hand and 3 prize cards, you only have 20 cards to work with. I used Pal Pad for the fact 1 card gets me 2 cards back into deck if need be. I didn't think N does me that good but thought maybe a colorles??? The archies gives me a five card draw and shauna shuffles back for 5 so thought this would be sufficient. I thought Cheren as well but what card to unload??? Do I have too many energies?? trying to do too much with this deck. Scrap this idea and do something more basic??? Any advice is more than welcome. Thanks so far.

Okay that makes sense. I think I might still play Juniper, but I would definitely want Trump Card to avoid decking out. As long as you don't deck out with Trump Card, Battle Compressor is a good way to get your Pokemon in the discard pile, and I think you can afford to only play once since with only 30 cards, I guess there's a good chance you'll see it fairly early in the game. This is a weird deck, but I think these changes might be good. I'm not an expert when it comes to alternate formats.

-1 Empoleon
-1 Primal Kyogre
-1 Float Stone
-1 Pal Pad
-1 Double Colorless
-1 Water Energy

+1 Professor Juniper
+1 Lysandre's Trump Card
+2 VS Seeker
+1 Battle Compressor
+1 Acro Bike
