Is this allowed? I'm pretty sure they lose two land for losing, not because you took it.

You only win 1 land when you win whereas the opponent loses 2. If you want them to have the same amount of land after the battle you must offer 1 of your own in addition to the one you choose not to take. That means you have to give them your land. This is to prevent the game from in theory being able to never end.

I didn't process anything from this phase yet. This day phase ends the day after my last exam this week, which is when I will have more time to process everything. You should be able to easily calculate how much land you have left. If you have reached 0 land you are forced to retreat from Torrid (not dead).

Also keep in mind that if you do not accept a challenge (or wait an unreasonable amount of time/avoid completing it) the challenging Kingdom will be able to raid your Kingdom, meaning he wins double the land, money, and Pokémon. Ranks are not doubled; it's still 1 rank to 6 Pokémon. (In this case the Pokémon you steal don't get ranks, since they did not battle.)
So, to avoid that, make sure you complete all your matches! Get battling.
