Okay I have a Question about one of Kingdra Exs D Attack
the attack is Energy Link
It does 40 Dmg to My Opponest defending pokemon and has an effect that says " Search your Discard Pile for an Energy Card and Attach it to Kingdra Ex"

Does this mean Any kingdra Ex On the Bench or Active or Self reference as in the active Kingndra Ex Who attacked??

Are you sure?? because it would say to This pokemon Instead.
Ive asked around and some people have said it was legal because it goes with it kinda

Virtually any time [some Pokemon] mentions its own name in an effect, it's a self-reference.

The only time it's not is when it's referring to cards in a different zone (like "Search your discard pile for [some Pokemon]"), or when it obviously can't be a self-reference (like referring to "all" or "any" of [some Pokemon]).

Side complaint: I wish they would just use the phrase "this Pokemon" on the cards instead. The whole self-reference rule is one of the most confusing artifacts they copied from M:TG.

Yeah cause I was reading it and I was like wait so what do i do now...
Yeah they need to specify the Pokemon instead of just saying the pokemons name.
Because you could really play off the words like that.

I know, I used to play like that with Mudkip CG until I remembered that rule. A lot of cards would be incredibly powerful if that rule didn't apply.

Usually it will tell you if you can attach it to a different Pokemon Card if not then it is most likely self-referring...
