Well I went to my second battleroads yesterday. I having been running sablock alot lately. But I didnt wanna run SP at my BR's as I was getting bored of it =/ wanted a speed/swarm deck ![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
I decided on Kingdra Swarm (3prime 1la kingdra) with Floatzel GL-X for recovery
So I built the deck on tuesday, didn't get to playtest it at all all week and then at the last minute took out the twins for mesprit and another seeker (which in the end, was the only reason i won)
Round 1 - Vs Apera (good mate) with tyranitar/umbreon
I was abit scared about this game, as I knew if I let him setup to many T-Tar's it could get annoying. Game 1 and I am going first with a lone horsea start, have uxie in hand burn though all my trainers and my one supporter (bebe's) then setup for 5, I get BTS and seadra and had already bebe's for the prime, I start hitting hard and early while his Ttar is just a pupitar (weakness to water) and take the win. Game 2 i draw utter crap, he stalls me with umbreon and I literally draw pass till about turn 9 before I get an energy. Game 3 ends up being sudden death as game 2 took so long, I get a huge hand, setup using uxie, bts, poke collector and poke comm and end up hitting to hard to fast and take the 1 and only prize
1-0
Game 2 is against another good mate troy, running MewPerior
Having never played this deck I didn't really know how it worked. So Game1 I start, 2x horsea, attach water hit for 10, pass. The rest of the game he dominates me and I watch and see how his deck works. I realise to late that it's all based arond poke-powers to get energy back ontop of deck to use rhyperior-X's attack to deal a constant 200dmg to me everyturn. So going into game 2, I know what to do. I swarm and start taking prizes KO'ing Mew's and wait for him to setup his energy in the discard, he drops dialga and I think it was skitty? some other poke that refreshes the energy. I drop mesprit keep the lock going so he can't cycle his energys and he has to hope on luck to get energy in top 5 cards to knock me out. I limit my use of e-belt as it's not needed to KO mew so I dont let him take 2 prizes and win. Game 3 I already knew what to do so followed my same strat from game 2, lock his powers when he needs them and win.
2-0
Game 3 is against Melvin (Guiltysky on the beach) with his very good and perfected G-Dos list.
I don't remember the details of this game to well, It was a slug fest thought with some big mis-plays on both sides of the feild. But I Win game 1 and game 2 just buy swarming and using fast fast speed. I get mesprit lock early in game 1 to stall his regi-move to get karps in discard (and he can't uxie to draw junk-arms) this wins me the game. Game 2 he makes 1 huge misplay and plays a seeker which allows me to return a kingdra with 20hp left to hand and he played BTS for me the turn before. This plus him hitting 4 tails on SSU pretty much is how I win the game.
*edit* can't believe I forgot that this game actually went into sudden death. I am guessing he must have actually won the first game, all I know is we played sudden death, I can't remember much of it either though sorry
basic run down is like most of the other games, swarmed with as quick a setup as I possibly could, using mesprit when he droped his power lock to disrupt
3-0 *phew*
Round 4 is against Andi (deck had Roserade/Leafeon/Muk)
This was the quickest and easiest game of the day, nothing against andi as he's a great guy and player. I just opened with GOD hands in both games. Game 1 last's 6 turns and I take 1 turn a prize (I go 2nd and setup belted kingdra on my first turn) Game 2 I seeker donk on the 2nd turn (felt really lame but the cards were in my hand so i made the play)
4-0
And I win my first battle roads![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Overall I was very happy, especially with a deck I had JUST put togther that week. The only testing I got to do was mock battles against no-one just to see how quickly I could setup the deck. Usually had a kingdra out 1st turn if I went 2nd and could play supporters / trainers. Or would have one setup 2nd turn if I went first.
Props
4 Packs of cards
Beating Melvin (he pretty much taught me all I know about pokeTCG)
Kingdra working so well
Putting mesprit in last min which pretty much was the reason I won
Slops
Not alot really
