Ruling League play questions...

You guys have been great, and I've had every question answered so far. This is a top-notch site! I wen't to my first Pre-Release ever, and I went undefeated. Call it the luck of the draw from the packs. My evolution chains were solid. But I am still brand new to the game.

With these new D/P cards, which are pretty powerful, I have a few questions that I'd like the Guru's of this site to tackle for me if you would.

1)Are we going to be able to mix DP in with our other decks? I would hate to ruin all of the other creations I've made.

2)At the Pre-release, call it luck but I acquired about 7 "basic" metal energies. No darks though... Will I be able to use these basic metals as straight energy cards (without the -10 resistance, because it's not "special"), and have more than 4 METAL energy cards in my deck. If so that sure adds some appeal to using some METAL pokemon that I was affraid to use in the past due to the 4 "special" energy limit.

3)I've got so many cards from different series... Base Set to DP. I know they are not all "Tourney" Legal, but in League play, Can I use any combination that I want to? I have found alot of "old style" trainer cards that work with the newer pokemon, better than the ones from their sets... I've mixed in a few during league play the last couple of weeks and no one has said anything... But is it LEGAL?

4)The word DARK or Rockets or Brocks in front of a pokemon, that DOES make it a "different" pokemon correct? If I had 4 Arboks, 4 Dark Arboks, lets say there was a Brocks Arbok (I know there isnt), and a Arbok-Star card.... Could I use them all in one deck???

Thanks in advance fellas....

1) Yes you can use other cards too. Old EX series and upcoming DP cards in the same deck. In turnaments as long as they are modified legal. In leagues, anything goes.
2) You can have more than 4 basic metal energys AND up to 4 special metal energys in the same deck.
3) In the league anything goes :) All cards are legal (exept if the league leader sais otherwise, but that's more than rare.)
4)Yes :)

1) Yep, but the cards from the EX series keep all their old rules, like weakness and resistance. There are a couple rule CHANGES that affect older cards, but those mainly are wordings (Basic or Evolution card now reads "Pokemon card" for example) and how fossils work. I think the official site has the rules changes there or an instruction booklet will probably explain a bit more in detail.

2) Yes, you can have any amount of the basic forms of Metal/Dark energy cards, but you can still only have 4 of the Special energy versions. With those added, Starmie δ (DS) and Salamance δ (DS) are a LOT more playable and abusive. Heck, Delta species as a whole is pretty abusable, lol.

3) I think this really depends on your league coordinator. Ours down here allows all cards except for Base (me and someone else are largely to blame for that, lol) but there's one in Lincoln that only lets you use modified cards. So it really depends, although for casual play I don't see the problem with using all cards. I'm just happy I can use "Challenge!" again...

4) You are correct there too. Dark, Owner (Brock's, Rocket's, Holon's, etc), Star, and EX forms are all considered seperate Pokemon from their original forms. In Diamond and Pearl, however, LV. X forms are NOT considered seperate, so you can't have 4 regular Empoleons and 4 LV. X Empoleons.

The cards I think that are restricted from League play are __'s Pikachu (AKA Birthday Pikachu), __'s Chansey, Ancient Mew, Blaine's Quiz #1, and the "Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos" movie Promo. Unless you have a rule similar to Alchemist's League, but that's the first time I've heard of something like that. But any older cards that have been reprinted, like older Darkness/Metal Energy or more recently PlusPower, must be read as the NEWEST made print instead of as-is.
