Legal decks

Hey there. My son and I are new to the card League. Can someone tell us the changes that are about to take place? What cards are legal and what arent for the coming season? Where do we find into on the newest decks?
Are there lists for the Championship decks from 2009 and 2010 and can those decks be built and used legally? Thank you!!
I understand some older cards have been reissued, but does that mean if we have a card, (like Charizard for instance) can that be used? So confusing to the new card players!

All legal cards can be found on this handy page.

The 2009 World Championship decks can still be found in stores, but they're not to be used for tournaments. There are probably lists online, but I don't know where. And several of the cards were probably cycled out this month.

Any reprinted cards are legal as long as they're within the legal sets. However, wording may have changed for some, like the Base Set Charizard, so the most recent wording it used. One exception is Defender. The Base Set Defender has the correct wording.

For deck ideas you can look on PokeBeach forum's Tournament Deck Garage or Casual Deck Garage. Once you get a good grasp of strategies and combinations, then you can start building your own decks!
