Sad to say, my inspiration for my other fanfic, "Legends of Aura", is running quite low, and i've decided to take a break from it, gain inspiration first and continue it when i find the right muze, so to speak.

However, i've gained a bit of inspiration for something else. I really hope to continue this fanfic, but again, i'm not sure if i can. (i'm still thinking of content for the story)

Without further ranting about inspiration issues, i give you...

Legend of Zelda
The Triforce of Corruption

Prologue

Long, long ago...A great evil sought dominion over the kingdom of Hyrule, in search of an ancient power that was said to be guarded by the gods themselves. In order to turn this kingdom into something of his liking, he had veiled it in a depressing twilight. As swiftly as the evil entity rose, he was defeated by a brave hero dressed in garments as green as the fields. This hero, known to us now as the Hero of Twilight, dissapeared shortly after his triumph. None who live today know what had truly happened.

It became tradition to annually celebrate the events of the past in this kingdom. The streets would be filled with festivities and little boys and girls running around, dressed just like the Hero of Twilight. In the castle courtyard, tournaments would be held for the more mature audiences, and the people who entered these tournaments would also be dressed in the same green garbs as the Hero if they chose to. Competing in this year's annual tournament, at the mere age of sixteen, was Gustaf, a boy who was often reminded of his physical resemblence to the Hero of Twilight as he was described in the legends. The costume he was wearing for this tournament only made him look even more like the Hero of the legends.

"For the first time in 10 years, we have two newcomers facing eachother in the Twilight Cup finals. On the left, we have our very own Gustaf of the Ordona Province! This kid's been waiting for the opportunity for years, people!" One of the commentators announced to the audience.

"Gustaf's opponent came from the faraway kingdom of Holodrum. Hardly anyone knows where it is, and no one knows why he came all this way, but one thing is certain, it'll have something to do with that fancy sword they'll be allowed to look at for winning this event. Therefore, this battle is going to be one demonstration of pure skill and swordplay. Making his entry now, Tyrus of Holodrum!" The second commentator added as the warrior in red armor entered the arena.

Both Gustaf and Tyrus made their way to the center of the arena, and drew their swords. It was standard protocol to greet eachother by crossing swords in a friendly manner upon entering the arena. However, their attention was soon diverted to Hyrule Castle's balcony as the fanfare's music announced the entrance of Princess Zelda, who would announce the start of the final round. The victor would be allowed a grand tour of Hyrule Castle, including the room in which the Master Sword was kept, naturally under strict surveillance. Still, such security was unneeded, since the Master Sword can only be touched by he who carries the mark of the gods. Needless to say, it was this sword alone that caused many to enter the tournament.

The reason why my main character isn't called Link, is because Link is infamous for never talking...now who'd want a main character like that for a fanfic? ;(

Rest assured, Link will make an appearance eventually.

I will gladly take comments, critisism, suggestions,...etc. (as long as they are constructive of course)

RE: Legend of Zelda: The Triforce of Corruption

Chapter 1
From Courage to Corruption

"This is intense, folks. They've been going at it for an hour and no signs of slowing down!" The announcer yelled as he and the crowd enthusiastically watched the two swordsmen fighting.

Both Gustaf and Tyrus were swinging there blades at one another heavily, focussed on only one end...Victory. Both were able to continuously dodge or block eachothers attacks. Tyrus then made a bold move by coming in closer, and kicking Gustaf's sword out of his hand. The sword ended up a couple of feet away, stuck in the sand. Gustaf managed to stand up, and used his small wooden shield to block Tyrus' advance as he walked towards his sword. Just as Tyrus was able to catch his opponent off guard, Gustaf pulled the sword out of the ground and used it to block Tyrus' vertical slice. Gustaf then repaid Tyrus by kicking him in the stomach, allowing Gustaf to advance. Tyrus was barely able to block Gustaf's attacks with his own shield as he recovered from the simple but painful attack. Gustaf then tried to finish the battle by knocking his opponent out of the ring. He started spinning around, his sword hitting Tyrus' shield with every spin, damaging it more and more until it was cut in two. After Gustaf's final blow which plit the shield in two, Tyrus too, was knocked back. He fell down, his head being the only part of his body that crossed the line which marked the edge of the arena.

"We have a winner, people!" the announcer yelled, standing up out of excitement.

As the crowd started cheering, some of them even calling out Gustaf's name, he could only reply by waving his sword high above his head. Shortly after, Gustaf turned around and reached out to help Tyrus get back on his feet. As Tyrus was pulled up, he suddenly spoke.

"If this was a real battle, i'd have won!" Tyrus said under his breath, making it sound like a threat. He immediatly pulled his arm free and slightly pushed Gustaf out of the way as he left the arena.

As Tyrus left, Princess Zelda walked in through the opposite entrance, followed by Hylian soldiers for protection. As she approached Gustaf, he kneeled, holding the point of his sword against the ground.

"You look just like him..." Princess Zelda said quietly. Gustaf wondered if she had said anything at all. "You've certainly earned the right, come with me."

"Thank you, your Highness." Gustaf said in a slightly loud tone, cursing himself for speaking at all.

"There is no need to feel nervous, Gustaf of Ordona...Now come." Zelda spoke as she turned around, her guards waiting for Gustaf to follow.

Hours passed as the somewhat boring tour of Hyrule Castle continued. The tour was led by Hyrule's prime-minister, a rather short and aged person with a monocle. He could go on and on about the numerous paintings of the Hylian royal family, of ages both past and present. At some points, even Princess Zelda herself had to push the prime-minister to continue with the tour. Gustaf himself barely spoke up during the tour, still feeling nervous about being where he was, and who he was with. After nearly three hours, they entered a large hall, in the center of it, was a gigantic statue of Link, the Hero of Twilight. Gustaf gazed upon the statue. It was as if the statue was made for him instead of the Hero of Twilight, it was as if looking in a mirror.

Princess Zelda, followed by the rest of the group, approached the pedestal upon which the statue was, and on it was a Triforce emblem. Zelda touched the emblem with her left hand. Both her hand and the emblem started glowing with a bright golden light in the shape of the Triforce. The ground suddenly started shaking as the statue slided backwards, revealing a staircase, lit only by a few torches. It took them quite some time to reach the bottom, but when they did, the sight that greeted them was amazing. A large hall that looked alot like a church. At the end of the hall, was a bright sword with a blue hilt, lodged in a small stone pedestal. Before Gustaf and Zelda approached it, the Hylian guards went on ahead and surrounded the Master Sword, followed by Princess Zelda and Gustaf.

"So this is the real Master Sword?" Gustaf asked, unable to believe what he was seeing.

"It is, and if you don't believe me, then try touching it. The Master Sword will only allow it's new master to wield it." Zelda said confidently.

Gustaf slowly approached the sword before him, and reached out for it. As he came closer, his hand was pushed away from the hilt, like two positive sides of a magnet. Just then, the back of Gustaf's hand began glowing with a golden light. The mark that appeared on it was a Triforce, highlighting the lower right triangle. Now, unlike before, Gustaf's hand pulled itself towards the hilt. The guards reacted by pointing their spears towards Gustaf, they assumed Gustaf tried to steal it. Zelda pushed herself through the barricade and called the guards off. She then looked at the hand that held the Master Sword, still lodged in the stone pedestal, and noticed the golden glow.

Then, out of nowhere, a huge black cloud of smoke appeared, flying through the room. The shadow flew right through the guards, killing them instantly. The shadow then covered the Master Sword, pushing Gustaf away from it. It began to take form as the smoke vanished. What had appeared looked like an entirely black version of Gustaf. He wore the tunic of the Hero of Twilight, but instead of green, it was darker than night itself. Even the man's skin was equally black, his eyes giving off an eerie red glow. He pulled the Master Sword out of the pedestal and held it up high with an evil grin appearing on his face. The bright blue hilt became black, and the bright glow of the blade dissappeared. As soon as he appeared, he had already vanished, along with the Master Sword.

"No....no...This can't be happening..." Princess Zelda said sadly, falling to her knees.

"What just happened?!" Gustaf asked in disbelief.

"With the Master Sword gone...Hyrule is defenseless. If only we knew what he's up to..." Zelda replied, not quite answering Gustaf's question.

"Well there has to be something you can do about it." Gustaf said.

" 'I' cannot do anything. You however, can." Zelda announced.

"Hey, just because I won a tournament doesn't mean i can go up against 'that'!" Gustaf yelled angrily, reffering to whatever it was that just attacked them.

"The Triforce of Courage has been granted to you by the gods! You held the Master Sword in your hand! The Master Sword chose you as it's new master!" Zelda said, making her point obvious.

"Well, excuuuuuuse me, Princess. But how exactly do you expect me to get the Master Sword back?" Gustaf replied irritated as he crossed his arms. He no longer cared about whom he was adressing, and tried to get out of the task that was given to him.

"By forging another..." Zelda said calmly as she stood up.

"Is that even possible!? As I recall, the Master Sword was forged by the six sages. And they've dissapeared!" Gustaf argued.

"But the ingredients haven't." Zelda noted.

"If you can find what we need, I can attempt to reforge the sword." Zelda added.

Gustaf shook his head and headed for the exit. As he went back up the stairs, he felt Zelda's hand holding back his own.

"Only you can do this." Zelda pleaded.

"Forget it." Gustaf said in a slightly depressed and tired manner. He pulled himself free and ran back to the surface.

Princess Zelda went after him again, but found him to be out of sight once she reached the main hall of the castle. Instead of trying to find him, she realized the best thing to do was to report the situation to her father, the current King of Hyrule. As Zelda passed by the balcony, she stepped outside for a while, seeing a boy dressed in green riding his horse away from Hyrule Castle, and towards his home in Ordona. Several tears fell from her eyes. Gustaf was their only hope.

As someone who's probably more knowledgable about swordfighting than the average 'Beach member, I feel that I have to point out a few mistakes of yours.
First of all, no one would use a shield that could be broken that easily. What would be the point? Second, kicks would be almost entirely ineffective, and might very well result in the loss of one's leg.
I recommend that if you want any realism in this story, that you rewrite the entire fight scene. Of course, this is based on a video game, so it's up to you.

As someone who's probably more knowledgable about Legend of Zelda than the average 'Beach member, i beg to differ :p

The easily broken wooden shield is a general aspect of the game, therefore acceptable. You could also count that as the general equipment everyone had to use for an organized tournament. Kicking someone's hand so it hurts so he drops his sword. What's ineffective about that? Strategically, it's a good thing to do, and I did mention he made a bold move by doing that in the first place, so i'd say it's acceptable as well. :D
