While looking through cards for the 'What Card Does This' thread, I rediscovered the existence of Lunatone PLS (see spoiler).

Personally, I think that ability is actually very good. What I'd like to know is why I've never seen it in a competitive deck. Sorting through your deck, even if it is only the top two cards, seems like a very viable thing in this format, especially as it could allow you get the game-changing card you need. It also would work against things like Seismitoad, in theory, as it allows you to theoretically get a Supporter one turn earlier.

I can really only think of N for a reason why the card is somewhat less used, and I guess bench space. But then again, things like N are not used every turn (normally), and not all decks need a full bench.

So, do you think Lunatone PLS is a good card? Should/could it be used in competitive decks well? Should it ever be a 'good addition' in meta decks? Share your thoughts.

I've seen Lunatone used in a Ether/G-Booster strategy before and that's pretty much all it does. Rarely are there situations where looking at the top two and rearranging them on top is good. If it were a scry effect (look at top X, then put them on top or bottom in any order) it could actually be decent as it would rearrange the deck in a way that would be useful for a straight up draw card. But the reality is it just reorders a tiny slice of cake. Then it takes a spot on your bench and its scope being so very limited (two is a very insignificant number when you draw seven cards straight off the top) and a spot in your list it just seems so useless when compared to cards like Acro Bike that give you a physical advantage for using it.

I ran one in my Heatmor deck. Combined with Scorched Earth it was a pretty good combo to make sure that 1) I wasn't discarding any Trainers that I needed, and 2) I had as many energy on top of the deck as necessary for Fiery Licks. It wasn't the greatest combo ever, but in a sub-optimal deck it did surprisingly well.

It was played in pre-PHF Donphan variants for the added consistency (which was especially helpful in Bo3 games). Since the release of PHF it hasn't been played. Bench space is just tight in most decks that could play this. There is probably also better options for decks now (in terms of non-supporter based draw especially).

I run Lunatone in my Medicham build because of how it bolstered consistency. Having plenty of Basics in the deck already, I didn't often start with Lunatone and was able to grab it from Korrina. By nabbing Lunatone and a Repeat Ball or Computer Search, I was able to get multiple Meditite in play T1 and manipulate my draws depending on what I needed at the time. The card is very good and, while understandably, Bench space is tight, might be worth playing. Of course, your builds vary and might be able to open a free slot for Lunatone. I personally liked having, for example, Medicham in the Active slot, the Landorus I used to set up, one more Medicham, the Lunatone, and a Celebi-EX on my Bench. The last slot is either a Jirachi or another Meditite/Medicham. It really depends.

Nowadays, Trainers' Mail and Acro Bike might be better options seeing as Silent Lab is deadly and not giving up a free Lysandre target is nice.

not giving up a free Lysandre target is nice.

If they want to use a Lysnadre and their turn to take out a one-prize Pokemon with no energy on it that isn't critical to my strategy, I am pretty happy. In fact, they can do that every single turn if they like.

There are no cards right now that make you draw 1 outside of Slurpuff, and still you'll probably have 2-3 out at 1 time. Everything else (empoleon, shiftree, acro bike, trainer's mail, etc) makes you draw more then 2 cards.
Not really good in todays metagame either with Silent lab getting bigger and bigger by the day.
