Standard Lurantis / Bulu (After rotation)

I was looking at my tapu bulu / lurantis GX deck list and noticed a few cards going out of rotation. I was wondering if you guys thought this deck was competitively viable, and if not what changes I should make. There are some cards I could not afford such as N's, however if a necessity I will purchase some. I have not been able to test this on PTCGO due to not having the availability to burning shadows cards.

##Pokémon - 15

* 1 Morelull SUM - Evolving
* 1 Shiinotic SUM - Searching out grass types
* 1 Oranguru SUM 113 - Draw support
* 4 Fomantis SUM 14 - Evolving
* 2 Lurantis PR-SM SM25 - Extra damage
* 3 Lurantis-GX SUM 15 - Main attacker
* 2 Tapu Bulu-GX PR-SM SM32 - Backup attacker against things like volcanion
* 1 Tapu Lele-GX GRI 155 - Obvious reasons

##Trainer Cards - 33

* 1 Nest Ball - Get basics out
* 2 Switch - Switching out of heavy retreaters
* 1 Brigette - Lele brigette first turn
* 2 Skyla - Lele to get any trainer
* 2 Revitalizer - Helps out if knocked out
* 4 Ultra Ball - Pokemon searching
* 2 Field Blower - Necessity
* 1 Red Card - Drampa big wheels / any searching attack (couldn't afford N's on my budget)

* 2 Professor Kukui - Extra damage

##Energy - 12

* 12 Grass Energy

Total Cards - 60

A few thoughts:
1. Not sure how useful morelull and shiinotic are...understand their use but you will be using ultraball to get one out. I think with brigette, ultra balls and draw support you are not in as dire need for Pokemon seeing as you only have stage 1 evolutions.
2. Eevee not in the deck?
3. A preference of mine but I always include a double colourless or two which gives Lele a chance to attack if needed.
4. In general you have a lot of 1-2 support Pokemon. Example If you skyla to get ultra ball in order to grab lele and then get a different supporter that takes two turns.
5. I think 3-4 N will be standard in most deck builds. I believe with the number of reprints their value is around $4.
6. I would use another Acerola instead of ninja boy to pull up lele.

I mainly had these guys so I could consistently get out the pokemon I needed if my hand was useless. I'll consider replacing them tho
2. Eevee not in the deck? I updated an old decklist I had with AOR eeveelutions, that's just something I forgot to remove xD
3. A preference of mine but I always include a double colourless or two which gives Lele a chance to attack if needed. I'll try this out
4. In general you have a lot of 1-2 support Pokemon. Example If you skyla to get ultra ball in order to grab lele and then get a different supporter that takes two turns. I don't understand what you mean xD
5. I think 3-4 N will be standard in most deck builds. I believe with the number of reprints their value is around $4. I definitely want to get round to adding some Ns.
6. I would use another Acerola instead of ninja boy to pull up lele. Ninja boy is also helpful if I start out with a support pokemon like oranguru so I can ninja boy to fomantis and set up.

Hello,

The decklist seems relatively solid, but there seems to be some pretty questionable choices. First, Shiinotic is useless and as previously mentioned by @Rindon, Ultra Ball, Brigette and your draw Supporters will do the job of finding your Pokémon better and more consistently. The idea looks nice on paper but I'm certain it won't practically work.

Secondly, APCA is also useless. It only affects Basic Pokémon, so Bulu is the only attacker that gets to take advantage of it.

However, I would still suggest making Bulu your main attacker. Whilst Lurantis is easily my favourite GX and one of my all-time favourite Pokémon, it should rarely get a starring role (Vileplume is an exception). Bulu hits for bigger damage and Flower Supply on Lurantis seems tailor-made to get the energy back onto Bulu.

The changes I would personally make go as follows:

  • -1 Morelull
  • -1 Shiinotic
  • -4 Aether Paradise Conservation Area
  • -2 Switch (Garb food)
  • -1 Ninja Boy (Acerola is better for conserving Pokémon)
  • -1 Nest Ball (you have Ultra Ball, Brigette with easy access and Sycamore)
  • -2 Skyla (not necessary)

  • +1 Tapu Bulu-GX
  • +3 Float Stone
  • +3 Acerola (I'm sorry, I just love this card and it's awesome in Lurantis)
  • +1 Sycamore
  • +1 N (just one is better than nothing, at least one really is a necessity going into the next meta)

In all honesty, the only reason that lurantis has been my main attacker up until now is because I got the hyper rare out of a pack xD I'll make these changes A.S.A.P, the biggest problem might be getting another bulu, although I guess it gives a reason to buy another tin :D
