Share here your crazy stories about how you got the most valuable card in rotation right now, or if you were extremely close, or other amazing mishaps with one of the most elusive cards in the format.
First one: I was trying to trade for one from a guy at my league. I had the trade all set out. I really needed it for BlazeRay. I believe I was trading a Dialga G Lv.X (probably another Lv.X but I don't remember...) and some trainers, which included some Professor Elm's Training Method. (Still, HGSS was still new at the time) He ended up trading the Luxray Lv.X away for a whole bunch of other Lv.X's and a Japanese Luxray GL Lv.X. I ended up trading for the Japanese one. (Come to think of it, what I was trading was probably only worth a Japanese one)
Second one: At the same league (a different day) a Junior came to league with a tin of cards. I asked if I could look through it. He said yes, and I game him my rare binder. While looking through the stack, I saw the glint of a Lv.X. I wondered what it was. I quickly glanced at the cards before it until I came to it. It was a Luxray GL Lv.X. I nearly screamed, until I saw the condition. It was badly scratched. I ended up trading for it, mostly because I still need an English one. I traded about four Lv.X's for it. (Probably what it's worth in that condition...)
Not/Third one: At a Japanese import store, near my grandparents house, there were Bonds till the End of Time packs (equivalent to Rising Rivals) At a previous Japanese pack buying, I bought the last three packs of a Jap. (Legends Awakened equivalent) from the box and pulled a Uxie Lv.X. So, I bought the bottom three packs. Nothing. On the way home from the end of the trip, bough three more from the bottom. Special Base Set Reprint Pikachu. Now, that card is very meaningful and in my Pikachu collection. But, at the time, I was sad that I hadn't pulled a Luxray GL Lv.X.
Not/Fourth one: Nearly had an English Mint Luxray GL Lv.X on eBay for $61 but got outbid in the last three seconds. There was nothing I could do. I didn't have any reaction time. ;_;
As you can see, I have two Luxray GL Lv.X's, some may consider me lucky, until they find out that one of them is Japanese and the other is badly scratched. The hunt is on, English Mint Luxray GL Lv.X!
