News Lysandre's Trump Card Has Been Banned

IMO it would have been better to some kind of errata VS Seeker like "you cant get LTC in your hand" or errata LTC like "once this card is in the discard pile, it stays there." plus, u may have only one LTC in your deck… some kind of a star supporter card ^^
 
Kinda surprised they didn't also ban Seismitoad EX given that it makes Stage 2 decks irrelevant in the current format.

To be honest I've even seen Seismitoad decks played without Lysandre's Trump Card and still stall the hell out of the game. They probably think it isn't going to be as bad with all these grass type decks coming out but Regionals has shown us Seismitoad doesn't really care about that.
 
Oops spoke too soon, its now banned. *starts quietly hording Absol EXs* extended will be pure nonsense with Durant, Aggron, devo spray trick shovel and the like. And Toad can be hampered by Supporter energy removal, OHKOs and the new Grass support in the next set. For now though well have to deal with Toad being a thorn in this two era saddled format (tail end of BW and XY)
 
Maybe they'll add a lost zone reminder next time, where you put Lysandre's Trump after use?
Would have made a better sense, but what ever... :)
 
I honestly just hope this does something good. Guess we'll have to see what the next set does for the game and if this was worth it.
 
Honestly pretty angry about this. TPCi has been ridiculously lax with bans, and you can tell that they have money on the brain with this one. They chose to ban the card that would have the least impact on pack sales, since the only real chase card in Phantom Forces at this point is VS Seeker, and they just printed a secret rare in Roaring Skies, anyway. This will not lead to a healthier format, either. Eggs JUST got killed off, and now it's going to come back to some degree, because Rayquaza can't afford to run the draw package it was running with trump card, and will have to add supporters to run efficiently, and Toad will remain just as good. GG TPCi, GG.
 
The thing that I'm taking from this ban is that the Cancer engine isn't viable now, and Shaymin EX isn't going to be broken and over-priced anymore. So props to Pokemon for this ban.

Oh yeah, and about Flareon and Night March being "op" now, they already pretty much were, and both those decks have weaknesses that can be played against. And if any of you guys knew how those decks played, you'd know that the good ones would get what they need back in the discard on the same turn if they were Trump'd anyways through Cancering through the deck.

The most recent ban was Tropical Beach, but that was only in Japan. As for English cards, we haven't seen any bans since the Neo era with Slowking and Sneasel. In addition, Ancient Mew and __'s Pikachu were also banned, though they were Promos and not part of a set.
 
Silly move in my opinion. If they want to deal with Toad, which seems the only deck they could have concerns about, then this won't do it. Sure Shaymin/Toad dies a well-deserved early death, but normal Toad variants have never needed trump card and will get by just fine. Meanwhile the likes of Mega ray die because they can no longer afford to aggressively look through their deck for the tools they need.

About the only decks that benefit from this are night march, which now becomes borderline unbeatable once it sets up, and mill decks, so we now have a second cancerous deck archetype to go with toad.

I get the feeling though that the last reason given above (extending battle time) is the main reason for this ban. The recent regional had dozens of draws, and even the grand finals had to go to sudden death due to time constraints. Of course, having a billion different lock decks at our disposal probably contributes to that just as much, but at least this way they can speed up play a smidgen without banning actual Pokemon.
