Hello. I haven't been keeping up with the metagame too much, so I realize that this might not be a top tier deck, but please help me make this something I can play (and hopefully win with) at local tournaments.

Pokémon:
  • 3 Gardevoir EX (PRC)
  • 3 M Gardevoir EX (PRC)
  • 3 Xerneas (XY)
  • 2 Spritzee (XY)
  • 2 Aromatisse (XY)
  • 1 Florges EX (PHF)
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums:
  • 4 Fairy Garden
  • 3 Shauna
  • 2 Professor Sycamore
  • 2 Professor Birch's Observations
  • 2 Lysandre
  • 1 Ace Trainer
  • 1 AZ
  • 1 Hex Maniac
  • 1 Xerosic
  • 4 VS Seeker
  • 3 Gardevoir Spirit Link
  • 3 Trainers' Mail
  • 3 Ultra Ball
  • 2 Mega Turbo
  • 1 Evosoda
  • 1 Exp. Share
  • 1 Super Rod
  • 1 Switch
Energy:
  • 10 Fairy Energy
Strategy:

Basically this is a straightforward Mega Gardevoir EX build: ramp energy with Xerneas, move energies around with Aromatisse, and finally knock out the opposing active Pokémon with Mega Gardevoir EX. I feel that 4 Fairy Gardens is a must due to the role it plays in this deck. I am happy with the draw supporter split so far, but please advise me if there is a better combination. Also, with Shaymin EX (ROS) now seeming to dominate the metagame (from what i've observed), is it worth adding to the deck. If so, what do I take out. I've also heard that the promo Regirock (XY49) might be good to play as well. And there has been speculation that Max Potion is getting a reprint. If so, is it worth it to obtain a play set of the original printing?

I would like to be able to play this deck at the weekly Sunday tournaments at my local card shop and be able to work my way up to bigger tournaments if possible. Due to financial restrictions (broke college student) I would like to keep playing this deck or a variant of it if possible.

Thank you in advance for your time, advice, and suggestions.

I play M Gardevoir too! I'd recommend getting rid of a Shauna or the Ace Trainer and tossing in a 3rd Spritzee since they have such low HP and they're super important. Judge might be worth considering over Ace Trainer too. Also maybe swap the Switch for Escape Rope. Switch is a bit useless when you have Fairy Garden out, but Escape Rope can have a disruptive use even with the stadium. I also might recommend swapping Florges for Xerneas EX, since Xerneas has the benefit of snipe damage. It can OHKO an active Pumpkaboo and a benched Joltik at the same time (which is VERY satisfying), and it can also KO benched Robo Substitutes and negate the effect of Focus Sash on those pesky Fighting types. (Also if you do add Shaymin, it lowers Florges' damage cap). I also play a single Muscle Band for the Xerneas, or for basic Gardevoir against Metal decks or situations where M Gardy would just be overkill.

Also, how many energies do you run? It might be worth tossing a DCE in there if you don't have one since Xerneas EX and M Gardy could both use it.

Hi! Thank you for your detailed response! In class right now so I can't say too much at the moment. I did edit the original post for the energy count. I'm running 10 fairy energy. I do agree that I could drop the Ace Trainer for another Spritzee as the Ace Trainer is very conditional. I also agree that Xerneas would make for a great addition as well since I have seen some variants of the deck run him but I'm a little hesitant about the Double Colorless Energy since I would neither be able to fetch it with baby Xerneas (which is why I don't run Wonder Energy) and I wouldn't be able to move it around with Aromatisse either. Also since Mega Gardevoir runs on the number of fairy energy on my board, I can't see it working out too well. However, I'm sure it works well for you, but I just can't visualize it at the moment.

May I ask for the deck list you are running for comparison? If I saw everything together, it would probably make more sense to me as to what I should drop and add.

Thank you very much for your time!

True, you wouldn't be able to fetch the Double Colorless. You'd have to draw into it and manually attach it, but that's OK since it isn't high priority for the core strategy. But it would allow for Xerneas EX to attack on turn 2, putting pressure on anything with low HP attackers. And if you attached it to your M Gardevoir, you can move all except 1 Fairy Energy off her, so if you have Exp Share in play, you aren't losing any Fairy energy from the field if she gets Knocked Out.

Anyway, here's my list. I find myself flip-flopping a lot between the 3rd Aromatisse and a second Xerneas EX

Pokemon: 16
  • 3-2 M Gardevoir EX (I only run 2 megas, since if I NEED the third one, I was probably going to lose that game anyway)
  • 3-3 Aromatisse
  • 3 Xerneas
  • 1 Xerneas EX
  • 1 Shaymin EX
Trainers: 33
  • 3 Sycamore
  • 2 Birch
  • 1 Tierno (Or a third Birch)
  • 1 Judge
  • 2 Lysandre
  • 1 AZ
  • 1 Hex Maniac
  • 1 Xerosic
  • 4 VS Seeker
  • 4 Ultra Ball
  • 1 Level Ball (I was considering 3 Ultra/2 Level, or 3/1/1 Evosoda)
  • 3 Trainers' Mail
  • 1 Super Rod
  • 2 Gardevoir Spirit Link (I only own two D: )
  • 1 Exp Share
  • 1 Muscle Band
  • 4 Fairy Garden
Energy: 11
  • 10 Fairy Energy
  • 1 Double Colorless Energy

I've never actually played it with Mega Turbo, so I might try that out sometime! I dunno what I'd get rid of to fit it in though.

Another thing you could experiment with is a 2/2 line of the Ancient Origins Whimsicott. I've had a lot of fun with it! Setting up two stage 1 lines can be a bit tricky, but completely healing a damaged Gardevoir and KOing something in the process feels so good. It's not really as reliable as Max Potion, but if you can figure out what you'd want to cut to eventually fit the Potions, it could be fun to fill that space with Whimsicott for the time being!
