This is the second deck I've committed to build. This deck list is per the suggestion of a friend who is much more experienced than myself. XD

17 Pokémon:
  • 2 Rayquaza-EX (XY69)
  • 1 Rayquaza-EX (ROS)
  • 2 M Rayquaza-EX (AOR)
  • 2 M Rayquaza-EX (ROS)
  • 3 Pikachu (GEN)
  • 3 Raichu (GEN)
  • 1 Lugia-EX (AOR)
  • 2 Shaymin-EX (ROS)
  • 1 Hoopa-EX (AOR)
32 Trainers:

  • 3 Trainer's Mail
  • 2 N
  • 3 VS Seeker
  • 3 Mega Turbo
  • 4 Sky Field
  • 2 Winona
  • 2 Lysandre
  • 3 Ultra Ball
  • 3 Robo-Substitute
  • 4 Rayquaza Spirit Link
  • 3 Level Ball

11 Energy

  • 7 Electric Energy
  • 4 Double Colorless Energy

Unsure of a general strategy. Winona for Shaymin and Lugia search.
Sky Field and Robos make for good Emerald Break damage
Mega Ascension Rayquaza to get Megas in a pinch.

Feedback is much appreciated!

Edit: Changed some numbers and card amounts to add more cards per suggestion.

A few thoughts for your consideration:
  • In a "typical" Mega Ray deck, you'll usually have 4 DCE in order to have MRay attacking by T2 at the latest.
  • Without DCEs, you need to commit 3 Basic energy cards to an M Ray manually; this time requirement will place you at a disadvantage.
  • Have you found that running only 7 Basic energy in total is sufficient?
  • Incorporating a few Level Ball will help get your Pikachu onto the bench faster (without paying a 2 card cost, which is not efficient in this particular deck's variant)
  • Should you become Item-locked, have you found that only 4 N and 4 Shaymin EX are sufficient to sustain effective deck operations?
Within this Forum, you can search for other "Rayquaza" deck posts. You may find it interesting to compare those builds to yours. After reviewing those different lists, consider again revising your original list for further feedback.

Yeah, I hadn't noticed the list was weird until after I posted it. I believe most of the considerations are already within the deck I have physically. I just cannot remember them off the top of my head. I'll have to look through the deck once I get back home and make the changes here from there. Thank you for the tips!
