I have been wanting to get into the competitive Pokemon TCG scene for a while now and finally decided to jump in for the upcoming season after Worlds. After doing some extensive research on the current meta and what the meta might become following the next rotation shift I came up with this deck list. Only I've hit a brick wall with 4 cards left and don't really know what else I should add. Well aside from a pair of Shaymin EXs, as I don't currently own any of these cards and after looking up prices I would not be able to afford the Shaymins until a few months down the road. So any suggestions besides that one would be much appreciated.
Pokémon: 16
Strategy:
So the main attackers of the deck are obviously the Sceptile cards. They are quick and efficient attackers only requiring a max of two Grass energy to attack for moderate damage. Sceptile EX relies on status conditions to reach max damage and that's where the Ariados line comes in with its ability to poison my opponent's active slot in preparation for a boosted Unseen Claw, hopefully with a Muscle Band attached, to hit for 150+poison. Not bad for only 2 energy.
M Sceptile EX provides energy acceleration and sustainability through his attack. While his damage potential is a bit lower, Jagged Saber should help to keep my pokemon healthy and ready to attack. Giratina's role is twofold. First, its to disrupt my opponents usage of Tools, Stadiums, and special energy. Second, to stop powerful Megas from ohko my Sceptiles before they can heal up. This means he will counter M Rayquaza who I think will be a major player next rotation.
I have a pretty standard set of trainer/supporters. I play the float stones to retreat and heal through M Sceptile or to just move Giratina around. The Muscle bands make my damage calculations a bit better. While the Fisherman/Revitalizer fetch cards that my VS seeker can't. The Forest is to get a turn one Ariados and start the flow of poison as soon as possible.
For the 4 remaining slots I have considered adding 1-2 Hydreigon EX. He helps move Giratina when I don't have Float stone or just under item lock. He would also help against Jolteon EX/Glaceon EX decks since his attack bypasses their Basic pokemon damage locks.
Any suggestions before I commit to these cards would be greatly appreciated!
