Ruling Magearna EX ability

Mystic Heart: Prevent all effects of your opponent's attacks, except damage, done to each of your Pokémon that has any Energy attached to it. (Existing effects are not removed.)

Distort (50): Your opponent can't play any Item cards from their hand during their next turn.

My question is: Would Mystic Heart remove the effect of Noivern-GXs attack on my Item cards? Or because it doesn't pertain to my Active/Pokemon, would it still work?

And is there a way around this? I played a Noivern GX / Garbolock deck this Sunday and this match-up was pretty ugly to play against.

Noiven's attack doesn't affect pokemon. It affects the player so Magearna does nothing to prevent it.

You might technically own yourself, but you're not a Pokemon, so no.

There are 2 cards that would prevent this

#1: Marowak (FAC), and #2 is Pokemon Ranger (STS)
