if i use magikarp's flail attack with gyarados' dragon dna , would it only do a maximum of 30 damage? because it says " it dose 10 damage times the number of damage counters on magikarp.

my friend says it can only do 30 because it is no longer magikarp it is gyarados , so is he right?

Your friend is wrong.

Gyarados is using Flail from Magikarp as it's attack. So therefore it does the additional 30 damage.

i no that it adds the plus 30 but if gyarados had 20 damage counters on him and he used flail would it be 50 damage , or just 30? ( the attack says it dose the number of damage on magikarp.) and since it is no longer magikarp it is gyarados it would not get the damage on gyarados?

confusing.lol

It would do 50.

Keep in mind that Gyarados MUST be doing damage in the first place for Dragon DNA to add 30 damage.

There's a section in the rule book about pokemon that refer to themselves. Since the attack says "damage counters on Magikarp", when Gyarados uses it, it would go like "damage counters on Gyarados". Hope it helped!

if gyrados have 50 damage on it, then the attack will do just 50 damage.
cauze when magikarp evolves into gyrados, the attack 'll outomaticly becomes damage counter on gyrados

owen bowen you are wrong.if gyrados has 50 damage on it,it will do 80 damage not 50.the power Dragon DNA will add 30 more damage if gyrados uses magikarp attack.

The way to test it is to replace the name with "this Pokemon". If it still makes sense, it's self referencing.

Flail is self-referencing -- the effect applies even if Gyarados is using it.
