Don't listen to agron, you can rare candy a fossil to it's corresponding stage two.

Nope you can't, thats why there is a fossil excavator - its just like rare candy but only works with fossil evolutions and plus you can search your discard pile along side the deck!

agron78, that is not the case. Fossil Excavator does nothing of the sort. It only allows you to search for and put into your hand, cards that evolve from fossils, or a Fossil itself. Nothing else.

Now, yes you can Rare Candy a Mysterious Fossil into a Kabutops from MD. Kabutops evolves from Kabuto, which can evolve from one of two things currently: Mysterious Fossil or Dome Fossil. The rare Candy knows that there are two possible evolution paths that a Kabutops can take, but it doesnt care which one you use it to skip. You may also use Rare Candy to evolve a Dome Fossil into Kabutops, but that was kind of obvious, just making sure everything is covered.
