What happens when I attach Unown G to Mamoswine, and use Ramming Strike?

Unown G prevents all effects except damage from all sources, does that mean I get to try again with the attack, without placing counters (potentially repeating infinitely)? Or can I simply not retry at all since placing counters becomes something that cannot be done?

Or third, does the placing of counters somehow not get countered by Unown G?

Unown G received errata. Here is the relevant Compendium ruling which should answer your question:

GUARD
Q. Does Unown G's "GUARD" Poke-POWER prevent effects from attacks that the Unown G is attached to?
A. No, the Poke-POWER only prevent effects from an opponent's attacks, not your own. Unown-G's "GUARD" Poke-POWER should say, "As long as Unown G is attached to a Pokemon, prevent all effects of attacks, excluding damage, done to that Pokemon by your opponent's Pokemon". (Feb 21, 2008 PUI Rules Team; Feb 28, 2008 Pokemon Organized Play News)

So basically Unown G being attached to Mamoswine has no effect on Ramming Strike.
