I pulled a Manaphy out of a POP 6 today, and had to ask myself 'Why?' It's is SO bad! It lets you search for a basic or do 30 Damage and switch Manaphy. Sure, occasionally it could be a good starter, but that's it! And why is it a rare? I expect openers like that to be uncommon/common.

Well you know why furroshi man? they're all basics...what would be the point of evolving if basics ruled. Then again that changed (sort of) with Lv.X, cos now you can "evolve" your basic legends. The legends in DP5 (japan) are REALLY good though. But yeh, Manaphy is a dying breed of crud legends

weird how baby Phione is better :SIs Phione REALLY a baby? In TCG you can't evolve Phione-->Manaphy, and you can't in game. BTW, is Manaphy in Diamond+Pearl for DS any good? cuz I bought Ranger just for Manaphy and only have trainerd him to 32

I like the illustrations for Manaphy, though think I like Phione's illustration better.
Phione is largely considered a Baby Pokémon in that they're only available through breeding. On the other hand, it's the only "Baby" that can breed. (Technically, Phione is there as a placeholder for the Manaphy Egg. It's there due to a necessity in programming that allows the Manaphy Egg to look different and have different animations than any other Egg.)
