MegaTar (Yanmega/tyranitar primes) MD-on

I was a bit inspired by Parmcat's entry to make this deck. I played TCG when it first came out but then stopped for several years and am just now getting back in. This is my first deck to post. I appreciate any comments y'all can lend.

Pokemon-24

3-2-2 Tyranitar prime
4-3 Yanmega prime
2-2 Zoroark
1-1 Umbreon (undaunted)
1 Smeargle
1 Sableye (stormfront)
2 Spiritomb (arceus)

T-S-S-23

3 Pokemon Collector
4 Copycat
4 Judge
4 Pokemon Communication
2 Elm's training method
2 Rare candy
1 Bebe's search
1 Expert belt
1 Seeker
1 Twins

Energy-13

4 basic dark
4 special dark
3 DCE
2 Rescue

The strategy is to start with a yanma and evolve into yanmega asap to start the 'hand matching' (trying to have the same number of cards in my hand so yanmega can attack for free) to hit hard for early damage and put my opponent on his/her heels. If I don't initially draw a yanma, hopefully I'll get a spiritomb, sableye, or smeargle that I can start setting up with to get to my yanmegas. While my opponent is fending off the yanmegas, I'll be building up a tyranitar(s) and hopefully a zoroark on the bench. Hopefully constantly copycating and judging will eventually get me the pokemon and energy I need. Once the yanmegas have done all they can (or I simply can't match my opponent's hand for whatever reason), I'll retreat the active yanmega for free and send out Tyranitar or Zoroark to wrap things up. Yanmega prime seems like a reasonable counter to Donphan too, or at least a nice staller due to his fighting resistance (which is desperately needed since T-tar and Zoroark are weak to fighting). Umbreon is in there as a tech against most primes.

I should note that I don't have any uxies or azelfs but can probably get some if you guys deem them really necessary. I'm also a little unsure of the rare candies as I don't ever seem to use them much in the few times I've played with this deck. I'm just nervous I'll have a pupitar prized. Again, comments appreciated.

RE: Yanmitar (Yanmega/tyranitar primes) MD-on

I've only got two suggestions since you have a pretty solid list:

Deck Name = MegaTar. Sounds SOOO much better than Yanmitar

Second suggestion:

Either 3-2-3 or 3-3-3 For your T-tars(Consistency)
And either 3-3 or 4-4 fo your Yanmegas(Consistency)

Heh, that is a much more attractive name. I'll change it and the T-tar line to 3-2-3 when I can find another one, as well as the yanmega line to 3-3. Thanks.

-1 Yanma
-1-1 Umbreon
-1 Smeargle
-1 Sableye
+2 Spiritomb
+2 Uxie
+ 1 T-tar prime

Once the rotation hits you should make it into a dark toolbox and add Mandibuzz in.

Hey,

Thanks for the callout in the first post.

I have twaeked my list a tad, as it is HGSS forward, so it will be different from yours.

I have found 2 or 3 Cleffas to be a good addition to my list. I am also going to try Tyrouge this weekend.

I might also drop the Smeargle and Sableye as 1 of each will not be consistant. Add in either 2 more Spiritomb to speed your deck up a bit with Darkness grace.

I would also max out the DCE

Cool, I was hoping I'd get a comment from you; thanks for the deck idea. I've still got a good week till Battle roads so I figured I'd keep the MD-on format as long as I could before they made me switch it up, though it won't be a huge change when it does hit; really just Sableye, Spiritomb, E-belt, and Bebe will be gone.

I know I have a Cleffa and Tyrouge and I'll definitely try running it when the rotation hits or maybe even try it out this weekend. I'll also try a consistent Spiritomb line and see if it helps. I've really enjoyed running that one sableye, though. If I don't have the cards I want in my hand and somehow don't have a Judge or Copycat to refresh, I can use Bebe or Collector to fish the Sableye out, retreat my hopefully active Yanmega for free, and use impersonate to get a card I really need or use a twins or a hand refresh. It sometimes costs me a prize, but it puts me back on track. However, I think Cleffa might be preferable in that situation with the large hand refresh attack, the free retreat, and the possibility of getting out unscathed thanks to its Pokebody. I'll run a full Spiritomb line against my brothers to see if it makes a difference, though.

Yeah, I want to put in another DCE, but I need to find another English one (I randomly have a Japanese and Spanish one). I had heard that DCE was going to be made into an organized play card, which would be nice....

I have also heard that about DCE, but at league last week, we got special darks....Hmmmm

-1 Yanma and +1 T-Tar Pruime for sure.

I will be running mine TyraniMega deck at Battleroads also, but the HGSS forward version
