Hello, my name is Tim Hughes from Melbourne, Australia!

I went to a prerelease at Goodgames Melbourne, a good little area where we had about 16-20 people playing, for a nice quick prerelease.

Without further ado:

My Pulls:

I was planning to run a deck based around Hitmonlee, as he is easily the most consistant, common card in the set. However, I didn't get any! Also, that would be boring, considering that I ran Hitmonlee at the undaunted prerelease (and came first, whoo!). Since I didn't get much, apart from a very good set of supporters and trainers, I decided to run Totodile! Since all he needs are water energies to do a large amount of damage, I could run 4 totodile and 36 water energy and own! (Thats an overstatement.)

Our prerelease didn't allow trading of pulls, but they did allow changing of your deck between rounds. The deck list below was of my deck AFTER the first round.

My final deck consisted of:

Mawile and Relicanth for draw power;
Totodile for bench build up power;
Lugia for fighting resistance (Everyone else was running hitmonlee/donphan...) and decent-ish attacks (considering I ran about 18-20 energy)
3x sages training, 1x PONT, 2x Dual Ball, 1x Interviewers questions, 2x cheerleaders cheer

Then I had extra room. I shoved in snorlax, and zangoose... and then I realized I nearly missed a gem; TANGROWTH! He didn't require any water energy to attack, so I can just pile on energies and use grind!

I also played a 1-1 mismagius line, because of all the fighting types; also I ran 1 seviper (who i didnt realize was actually terrible.)

My Games:

Round 1 was against one of my good friends who I invited to the prerelease. He was running Dialga. Yep. With him was Skarmory, Ninetales... and a buttload of energy.

Game 1: The game starts and I take an early lead. I power up tangrowth with 2 energies, knowing that I only need 1 more to KO his dialga (because he cant 1 shot tangrowth) . However, he sends out magby, who then proceeds to take tangrowth from 110 life to 0 without me being able to attack it. I believe I decked myself out after, when it was 1 prize left; I couldn't kill his dialga fast enough using a Mismagius I had benched.

Game 2: This game involved me not getting much. I manage to power up a tangela on the bench while powering with totodile, but it turns out tangrowth was my fourth prize. I refuse to scoop; but it didn't matter as I decked myself out.

So, 0-1. I kind of lucked out that time, perhaps I'd get lucky the next time!

Round 2: I was paired up with a guy I didn't know, who was running a hitmonlee/magby/tyrogue/relicanth (etc etc, everyone had the same deck). I play both dual balls and get two tails for each. Later on, I attempt to stall with magby but it fails after magby stays asleep for 4 turns while his lugia with 3 energy snipe the bench. I had tangrowth in my hand the whole time, but couldnt power up a tangela because dual ball double failed.

Game two was my magby start vs his tyrogue start. I use playing with fire, he takes 20 from burn, I wake up, he attacks for 30. He says 'good game' and I shake his hand grudgingly... I'm normally a good sport, but not after I got that unlucky...

Round 3 I was facing a girl with a hitmonlee/mareep line/ninetales deck. In short, I get relicanth out and draw a billion cards, and have a 1 energy relicanth in the main position, and on the bench I have lugia with 5 energy, snorlax with 4, totodile with 3, misdreavus with 1 and tangrowth with a few... and she refuses to attack with hitmonchan. Eventually I just retreat and win in a few turns with Lugia.

Game two was much of the same. I had relicanth in the main position and powered up a lugio on the bench. I didn't waste time and just knocked all of her stuff out. She didn't have a good deck, but I think she had fun anyway.

1-2

Round 4 I get paired with a guy... of whose deck I can't remember much about. Oops! Sorry. I won, though.

2-2

Round 5 I was matched up with a very strange man. In the least insulting way possible, I think he was a little bit disabled and although he had a good grasp of the game, his deck was terrible. He was running a mishmash of pokemon, some of which were good (hitmonchan, relicanth, etc) but also had groudon and kyogre in there. In our games, he didn't attack often because I dont think he had nearly enough energy in the deck. In the first game, I stall with relicanth and slowly knock out his pokemon for the win.

In the second game, Its my relicanth vs his Magby. I start powering up a totodile on the bench, putting as many energies as I could onto it. After I killed magby (many turns) He sent out hitmonchan and spammed detect. After a large, large number of missed tails, he was able to be hit, so I did 30. After another large number of heads, I retreated to mismagius for 60 for KO. He sent up his own totodile and attacked; I retreated to mine... which now had thirteen water energies attached. Thats a max of 30+260 damage. I ended up doing something like 120 damage... a lot more than totodiles low low 60 hp.

3-2

Props:
Totodile for having a lot of energy
Lugia for only working in prereleases
Tangrowth for being a boss
A huge number of supporters and trainers

Slops:
In my 6 packs, I got 2 espeons, an umbreon, a jolteon, two vaporeons and two flareons and no eevee.
Totodile sucks balls; 60hp gets killed in 1 hit so easily. Hes a worse hitmonlee.
No lost world or smeargle
the set in general

Our prerelease didn't allow trading of pulls
You aren't allowed to at all until after the event is over. I hate donks. I'd rather have full games.
