Standard Metagross-GX for Juniors

Hello guys,
I am working with my 9yr kid to help him develop a good Metagross-GX deck. We believe it is a very good deck against the Junior Meta because we rarely see a Volcanion deck (I think it is a little too hard for kids on Junior age to pilot it) and we see a lot of Gardevoir-GX and even Xerneas Break.
Keeping in mind this is for a 9yr kid to play with, what do you think about this list:

Pokemon (16):
4 Beldum
3 Metang
4 Metagross-GX
2 Tapu Lele-GX
2 Alolan Vulpix
1 Hoopa (Shining Legends)

Trainer (34):
4 N
4 Professor Sycamore
4 Guzma
1 Skyla
2 Brigette
4 Ultra Ball
4 Choice Band
4 Field Blower
3 Max Potion
3 Rare Candy
1 Rescue Stretcher

Energy (10):
10 Metal Energy

Included a SL Hoopa because it can hold Volcanion for some time while we set up and it´s even good to hold Gardevoir-GX and other decks with only EX/GX attackers.
Decided to max out all staple trainers to get more consistent and I think 4 Field Blowers really solves the problema against the Garbodor/variants decks.

Any advices?
Thanks a lot!

I have been playing for a bout a year now and primarily only play Metagross-GX. I really like this list and I have a son who is 11 so I know what you mean when working around that age range. My son has been using a deck primarily made of Alolan Ninetales and Glacion EX which has just been making the other kids lives hell, as well as some of the Masters. Metagross-GX is in my opinion easy to navigate but is the Hoopa that needed if there is no Volcanions like you said. Also if you are teching in Hoopa, or even if you swapped it for Ninetales since you already use Vulpix, why not put in a Darkness or Water energy as well. You are probably looking to Algorithm GX early and can put it in your hand to attach. This way you can add pressure by attacking with your blocker and then you don't have a dead card just taking a bench spot for your opponent to work around.

I always recommend 3 Lele's but know that isn't always as easy, especially for a 9 year old.

If doable, just stick to 3 field blowers. If Garb is a problem, you should be using Guzma to kill it instead of just field blowering and hoping it doesn't come back unless you know that their discard is full of tools and you shouldn't have to worry about another one going on Garb. I've hade the most luck killing it, especially since you have 4 Guzma's in this deck list.

I'll run my deck sometimes with 4 Guzma's to help limit the amount of chances my opponents have to Acerola what I couldn't one shot. The other way I run it is remove 1 Guzma for Mimikyu.

the list seems pretty god but id personally make a few small changes
-1 hoopa
+1 necrozma gx this can be your alternate type attacker for when you face volc
-3 metal
+3 psychic allows necrozma to attack and you now also have the option to use tapu cure
-1 guzma you should only need 3

+1 skyla can help get out candy metagross easier
or + 1 rescue stretcher not really sure if 2 are needed as i dont play much metagross

Volcanion is an auto loss even with Necrozma GX since Volcanion can easily reach the 180 damage needed for the KO. It is a great tech but getting all the Psychic Energy needed in the discard isn't easy either. This is why I tend to use Mimikyu instead. Definitely the prefer the 2nd Skyla over a second Stretcher as Metagross players aren't throwing parts away typically. If you do it is usually only one piece, which you throw out to get a single Metagross GX up to use Algorithm GX wihich when used, you can then grab the stretcher out and use it in place to pokemon you just threw in the discard.

Although you beat your Brother's Volc deck with that list in now way means it is a way around it. Winning a single 2 out of 3 against a single person doesn't constitute a big enough sample size for a way for Metagross to beat Volc

Of course, but the main point was the decklist, to consider or use to help.
