I figured we all needed a place to discuss this new game. It's only a week before it comes out, so it's not an upcoming game. >=[

Post your theorys, ideas, discussions, etc. about the game here.

After seeing the new trailer for it on the Nintendo Channel and reading its Wiki I think the monster that jumps on Samus is the one that kills Adam, and is, well, the one Adam saved Samus from.

I really hope they don't mess up Samus' voice. It sounds good so far, but I'm still worried. =/

Oh, and do you think the Baby she keeps seeing is the baby metroid, or something else?

So yeah, begin. =]

SCREW YOU THIS WAS MY THREAD TO MAKE!

....-.-...

Lol sorry but I am probably the most excited member of pokebeach for this game!!!!! I do think that the monster shown in the beginning and end of the action trailer could be somewhat important but I don't think that'll be how Adam dies. It was never said he saved Samus from a monster, but in Fusion she said he did make the ultimate sacrifice so that Samus could live, so, chances are it will be some monster... But frankly I'd imagine it being more of a final-boss-ish thing than that random creature. About Samus's voice, the new voice actress seems fine, I forget her name I just know that Jennifer Hale was the one who did the grunts in the Prime games and SSBB. If you really want to hear the voice watch the "Metroid and me" trailer on the Nintendo Channel. The US TV commercial is also on there, and... well it's... meh. I don't like the face of that actress and the look of the little "girl" Samus that looks like a boy. I like the later part with the gameplay footage and epic music, but I would have enjoyed the commercial much more if that was all game graphics. :/

Also, what's up with Ridley's demented new look? He looks all muscular and has a short, one-joint neck. >.< You can see him in the E309 trailer and sort of in the TV commercial. I'd think the new look would have to do with actual events, but when he's frozen in Fusion he's skinny with his long two-joint neck and even in the commercial where he technically is his past self he looks like that.

Oh yeah and I don't get what you mean by this...

On the metroid Wiki it's said that that baby it shows in flashes in the trailer could be related to the baby metroid. If you don't know hwat baby I'm talking about it's shows it right before Samus opens her eyes in the hospital.

You definitely have a good point about the monster. Because thinking about it I really don't think they would show a scene that important in a trailer. Unless it's Japanese, on Youtube there's a japanese trailer, and it shows a monster, which many have said may be the one that killed Adam.

On the topic of Mother Brain, do you think she will make any appearance? I know she's been destroyed already, but they could make another. Wasn't the one shown in the trailer a reborn Brain created by the Space Pirates anyways? If she does that would be cool to see her in her new look, but I'd really not like another Mother Brain battle as a final boss. xD

I hate Samus' young look as well. It's grown on me but meh, still don't like it. Her voice is alright in the newest trailer, but I want to HEAR it. You know what I mean?

Sorry for shortish sentences. Had shortish time to type this up. ^.^

(Sorry for making it. I had to find something to get excited about during school xD)

I am glad this game is finally getting some attention.
Meaty - No I am, can ya tell?

SotS - The baby metroid I believe is the one Samus rescued from planet SR388 (the home planet of metroid) and this later went on to save samus' life giving her the all energy and the infamous super beam.

Well, well known facts -
Other M mentioned at end of first metroid game
Other M - Anagram - Mother
Other M set after Super Metroid and before Fusion

I doubt that the monster would have killed Adam. But near the end of the trailer, it shows the space station samus was just in exploding. I don't think this killed Adam either. I don't think Adam would die that easily and besides, in other trailers he seems to be a commander of sorts, not a soldier, I expect that a small time skipped happened when samus was in hospital, but this is VERY unlikely. But this theory is greatly strengthened when Samus goes from short hair to long hair.
I don't think Adam dies in combat however. I just think that monster is the tutorial.

And mother brain seems to be the opening enemy. Which if this is the case, I want this game even more.
Because of the GF (Galactic Federation) breeding metroid's behind Samus' back, I can't help but think that the GF are going to be involved somewhat significantly. Which begs the question - Was Adam behind this?
I also can't help think that one possibility is that Adam dies by a metroid or Samus' hand. And by the looks of things, other Brain is only in the first part of the game, nowhere else. But this may be kept a very big secret and the GF could be making another Aurora unit similar to Mother Brain and the ones in the Prime series.

The "other metroid" quote at the end of the first game was related to Super metroid, until now. But in in Super metroid there were only one kind of metroid. But zebes was destroyed and no longer can it hold any "other metroid".

Actually in an interview Sakamoto claimed that he didn't remember the "other metroid" line. I think it can be passed off as a coincidence. Also yes, we all realize that Other M is an anagram for Mother and that Metroid: Other M's initials are M.O.M.

The "baby" in the beginning of the gameplay trailer is just a really young Samus... This is probably when the Chozo are infusing her with their DNA after the K-2L incident and making her super-human to survive on Zebes... It has nothing to do with the baby metroid that Samus saved on SR388 many years later.

SotS idk if you know everything about Mother Brain but she was the old leader of the pirates. In Metroid/Zero Mission she was just a brain in a tube and killed by Samus. Then in Super Metroid she was unexplainably revived along with her guardians Ridley & Kraid and the two new ones, Phantoom and Draygon. At the end of Super Metroid Samus fought her, though now she had a body and everything. Samus almost died, but the baby metroid sucked the life out of Mother Brain and healed Samus (apparently metroids have a reverse switch... >.> ) Then Mother Brain regained mobility and killed off the baby, and then from the metroid's energy Samus acquired the godly hyper beam and P3wnz0rd Mother Brain with it. In the beginning of Other M, which takes place right after Super, you see the battle with Mother Brain from Super Metroid in 3D but it's just an intro cutscene, not a fight gameplay-wise.

EDIT: Who likes my new AV & usertitle?

I love it. :p

I don't remember everything about Mother Brain, I've read up on everythingabout her at one point.. But about two years ago. So I forgot a lot and got mixed up, haha.

I didn't know that it's abbreviated to M.O.M. sheesh. Also I didn't know what Other M was, yay, now I know. :D

Well we still don't actually now why it's called Other M... And just making sure that any one who is going to play this game better beat Super Metroid first! If you can, play any other Metroid games, like Zero Mission, Metroid II or Fusion. The Prime games are great, but irrelevant to Other M and the other games...
