hello. i was playing in a all out unlimited format of cards with a friend. and he used Mightyena (lv.42 Legends Awakened) against my Mew Ex (Legendary Treasures). and he used Bite On attack which states "if the defending pokemon isn't a evolved pokemon, that pokemon can't attack, retreat, or use any pokemon powers during your opponents next turn.".....so i decided to use Mew Ex's Ability - Versatile which states " This Pokemon can use the attacks of any pokemon in play (both yours of your opponents). You still need the necessary energy to use each attack.)" My logic was i could use this Ability, since its an Ability, not an actual attack. I knew i could not use his attack, Replace. But i thought i could use his Ability....so my question is this. Is an ability an attack? any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Versatile just gives Mew access to other attacks. You're not using the Ability to attack, you're using the Ability to copy the attack, and then you use the attack. So if your opponent used Bite On on Mew EX, then Mew can't attack no matter which attack you chose.

got it. another thing to note about Mew' Ability, that I'm not sure about. lets say Mew-EX was attacked and then made confused. And i don't want to use Replace attack but Am i still able to use Versatile Ability without flipping coins for confusion?

It's the same deal unfortunately. As Mora said, Versatile gives Mew-EX access to the attacks of all other Pokemon in play (so long as you have the necessary Energy attached), but Mew-EX still the Pokemon that is attacking, and if Confused, you would stil need to flip to attack. Think of it as the attack you want to use is actually being printed on Mew-EX so long as its Ability isn't disabled. Even with Versatile, it is still subject to all of the normal rules regarding attacking and any effects, Special conditions, etc. in place.
