Ruling Mewtwo GX

Afternoon,

I have a question regarding Mewtwo GX and its 'Psystrike GX' attack. What exactly does it negate? Weakness? Resistance? How does it work against Alolan Ninetales' 'Luminous Barrier'?

Is it as simple as you're doing 200 damage and that is it? Or does it have more specificity?

This is what the card says: "This attack's damage isn't affected by any effects on your opponent's active Pokemon . " Weakness and resistance are not effects. Because the damage isn't affected by effects on your opponent's active Pokemon, this damage can be increased by say, Choice Band, but if your opponents active Pokemon is example: Lugia FCO 78, with the Pressure ability, Psystrike's damage wouldn't be affected by Lugia's ability, but still would be increased by Muscle band or other cards. Hoopa and Alolan Ninetales would not survive Psystrike.

Yep he's right. Always funny watching other's reaction blasting through a Hoopa/Ninetails wall with my Mewtwo deck
