Aww, what a cute story. I hade no idea he'd done any Pokemon manga, so that was a nice suprise... it'll make pulling that Dratini in an old style sealed tournament just abit nicer. OH, but now I realise, that means that cute Dratini in the story grows into a Dark Dragonite, well at least he gets his dream of growing up :p

It grows into Dark Dragonair, since Dark Dragonite is drawn by Mitshuhiro Arita. :p

That was a great little story. I didn't really know what to expect, but I have to say, I did enjoy it. It will be great to see what other stories he did.

I really enjoyed that story, I hope to see more from this series in the future, because it made the cards a little more meaningful knowing she drew them with a backstory in mind.

That was great story. Thanks for translationg Ketsuba!

Oh, and slight correction WPM, as far as I remember Kagemaru Himeno is actually a woman. Didn't you get anything signed by her at Worlds 06?

Discuss!

Have a mind - and use it. Don't be a Borg drone.

I'm afraid I'm a clueless Borg drone because I can't figure out where to read the story that you've commanded us to discuss.

a.k.a. "Clueless"

For the record:
Himeno has the CUTEST signature ever. (And yes, she's female)

That story was fairly good, except for the part where Dratini thought school was fun, someone should tell the little snake about video games :p

@ Clueless in Seattle: It's a manga, read it from right to left.

Oh fussy fussy WPM :p well I wouldn't mind if there was no Dark Dragonite, I always used the Dragonair and never evolved it, it was so pretty too, I'd love to have it signed by her! (also, HER, wow I never guessed she was a... she)
(EDIT) I forgot the cards print the names the western way... Kagemaru as a 1st name is generally male, but Himeno is obviously a female, silly me >_<

Lol HS. Naive Dratini doesn't know how to live in the "real" world. :p

I liked the story as well. Himeno sounds like a Japanese women's name to me; I wonder what people's reasons were to thinking she was a male. :F Like I said, I enjoyed the story. I've read Manga before, so, luckily, I know exactly how to read it, and it was well written with an intriquing story. I can't wait to read more and see here lovely drawings.

dmaster out.

That sounds pretty cool. I wonder when it will come out here.:)

I second that.

The little Psyduck face was quite cute!

Kagemaru Himeno has always been one of my favorite illustrators and my favorite among the traditional-looking 2-D style. (Of course, very few of the illustrators work without digital enhancements anymore. Whatever happened to Yuka Morii and her clay figures? Is she now doing the TFG?) I knew that she had these comics regarding the illustrations she did, but I thought it was a simple autobiography. Nevertheless, I'd be interested in that too, as the illustrations are the main thing keeping me within the Pokémon TCG--it's the rare TCG to not use clip art of its series and instead go for much costlier original drawings.

After having read this, I still wished I could know about the process of illustrating these cards and the process at Nintendo to submit them and such. I've always been curious about how long it takes these people to make them, if they communicate and cooperate with each other, what requirements they have, and how they get information on what to draw. (I also know it's impossible for me, an American, to get to become an illustrator, though I can always dream.) I still appreciate the extraordinary effort Kagemaru Himeno went through to make the manga, however, considering that this was probably done on her free time and that Japanese work for women has a pretty thick glass ceiling.

You're not the only one who misses Yuka Morii... And yeah, Kagemaru Himeno's always been one of my faves. I don't know where to get the manga, though. I think more of them should just draw without digital enhancing/Photoshopping. Heck, in the old days it was just Keiji Kinebuchi with his CGI Energy pics. Now they're all at it. Even Arita-san's doing it. Did you see that CG Blaziken ex? I really, really want Kagemaru Himeno's autograph! LOL
