Mr.Mime L.33 – Psychic – HP70
Basic Pokemon

Poke-Body: Air Wall
This body works when Mr.Mime is attacked by an opponent’s Pokemon that has 2 or less Energy attached to it. Prevent all damage from the attack. If Mr.Mime is Evolved from Mime Jr., also prevent any other effects from the attack.

[P][C] Trick Play: Without letting your opponent see, place a coin next to your Active Pokemon and cover it with your hand. Your opponent guesses whether the coin shows heads or tails. If your opponent guesses wrong, the Defending Pokemon takes 50 damage. If your opponent guesses right, Mr.Mime does 20 damage to itself, and don’t apply Weakness or Poke-Bodies when doing this damage.

Weakness: Psychic (+20)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

My question is about its PokeBody.

First of all, according to the rules, you resolve all effects of an attack before dealing damage. You could compare it to the function of Shiftry EX's Skill Hack, since you would be unable to deal damage with something like Steelix EX's Mudslide if you were unable to discard 2 Fighting Energy (Meaning you MUST resolve all effects first. Then damage. And then the KO if it applies).

So what if Steelix EX attacked Mr. Mime then? Or anything that discards energy for an attack for that matter. When Mr. Mime's PokeBody activates, how much energy would be on Steelix EX at the time? Would it only be two if it discarded for Mudslide then (If it had 4 to begin with of course), since the effect is before damage?

And if so, that raises one final question... what happens if Latias EX d attacks? It's a really confusing paradox, lol. You only discard energy if you KO Mr. Mime. Would confirming the KO be before or after discarding the energy? Since if it would be before, the PokeBody would block it, then the energy would not be discarding, thus overriding it....and then it would just sorta repeat :/

Don't know about second one but on the Latias issue.
Latias' effect can't be applied until the pokemon is knoced out. So the Pokemon would already be discarded. Actually on the entire thing it says when attacked. That means that as soon as your opponent declares attack, the body is either set off, or not applied. Anything after that is added after the body is disabled. If it said Damaged by an attack the opposite would be true. So this card is even less broken. Shame too.

It depends how they use the term Attack. I believe there have been cards using the term "When you're opponent announces an attack". Since this card is just roughly translated I have no idea how it is used, but the only other way would be all effects of the attack (Discarding energy and damage and all).

Here is where you made the mistake. Base damage ALWAYS come before solving any after effects. Damage first (the black numbers beside the attack) and then any other effects (like flipping for paralyse or discarding energys, unless the attack says to do it before anything can happen).

You have to resolve anything about the attack (such as discarding cards), only if the attack would not work if you are unable to discard.
For example, a basic attack like Thundershock. You do the damage before flipping the coin to see if the defending pokemon is paralysed.

I can't say for sure how this works with Steelix EX since the Mr.Mime hasn't yet been officially released and has no official ruling.
It could go like this... Steelix EX's owner announces Steelix EX in attacking. At this point you count the amount of energy attached to Steelix EX. If it has three or more energys attached to it, the attack continues. Discard the two fighting energy attached to Steelix EX and do damage to Mr.Mime.
BUT it could also go like this. Steelix EX's owner announces Steelix EX is going to attack and use Mudslide. At this point the Steelix EX has to discard the two energys for the attack to work at all. Now the Steelix EX has only two energys left and Mr.Mimes body would stop the attack from doing damage to it.

This is easy :) You announce Latias EX d is attacking Mr. Mime. Count the number of energy attached to Latias EX d. If it has three or more energys, Mr.Mime will suffe the attacks damage. Do the damage and if Mr.Mime is KO'd, discard energys from Latias EX d.

So basicly to sum this all, if at the moment the pokemon is starting it's attack and has two or less energy attached to it, the Mr.Mimes Body will stop the power from going any further. If the pokemon has three or more energy attached, the attack goes on.

Mr.Mimes Body has only been translated from japanese at this point. We need the english version of the card to say anything for sure.

Alright just looked up Steelix. The attack says discard 2 energy cards. There is no base damage written on the card. Therefore, discarding the energy is the primary function. This would also work for any card that says "discard _ energy or this attack does nothing" Discarding the Energy or energy is required before the damage. This can easly be trumped by "after doing damage" which it says on most of those cards. But not Steelix ex. Steelix ex has such wording that it falls into the effect of the body. Long Story Short, Steelix ex's second attack is included as blocked in the body's current wording.
