Ruling Mt. Coronet ruling

If u only have 1 metal energy in discard. Can u use mt. Coronut to get the 1 energy. Do u have to have 2 in discard. Also if there is 2 in discard and u choose only 1?

If you have one, you can take it. If you have two or more, you have to take two.

Every card like mt coronet aka super rod, special charge and energy recycler, you can play them if you have less than the number of energys or pokemon that are stated you can retrieve from the discard (not if there are 0, you always have to have a target). However, there are also cards that state up to (insert number here) energy. With those cards you do have to have at least 1 energy in the discard but you do not have to get more than 1 if you don’t want to.

The card text usually states specifically if you need to be able to perform the actions listed.

I can't remember which trainers cards, but some involving drawing/discarding card s have the following text;

"...(if you cannot discard 2 card, you cannot play this card)"

So unless it says specifically that you can't....then you can!

Pretty sure you try to do the most of what you can of a card, example take 2 mons/energies with super rod if you only have 2
