Ruling Multi Energy + Dome Fossil

Alright, Dome fossil evolves into Kabuto when a fighting energy is placed on it. Multi energy counts as every type of energy but only when it is in play. I believe that multi energy is a colorless energy until it is in play and Dome fossil requires that you attach a fighting energy to it and multi isn't a fighting energy until it is in play. I've searched the forums for an answer to this question and haven't been able to find one, so which is it? Does multi energy evolve the dome fossil into Kabuto or not?

Yes, as long as you have no other special energy attached to Dome Fossil it WILL allow you to evolve it into Kabuto. It does not specify Basic Energy, so as long as the Energy provides a Fighting type, you can evolve it.

Multi energy, provides all kind of energy. So attaching a multi energy, is actually attaching a fighting energy, plus grass,water,psychic,dark,metal...etc.

Trigger conditions are checked after the triggering action is complete. That would be attaching Energy in this case. At that point, Multi Energy is already in play and has started providing all types, so it satisfies the condition.

Will Multi energy also work on Houndoom from Great Encounters? If it is attached to Houndoom and I discard it for his Dark Fire attack, does it do 70 damage and burn the defending Pokemon?

No. Multi energy counts as all energy, but it only counts as 1 energy at a time.

Yes. This is in the Compendium.

Wrong. Again, see the Compendium on this.

You discard one Energy card from Houndoom, and then it checks to see what you discarded. A Multi Energy satisfies both checks, so you get both effects.

where can i view the Compendium? I keep getting both answers on my deck post in the deck garage.

Specifically, your answer is here:

Q. When using Houndoom's "Black Fire" attack, what happens if I discard an Energy card that provides multiple types of Energy at the same time?
A. If the Energy card you discarded provides all types (for example, Rainbow Energy), then both effects would trigger - the "Black Fire" attack would to 70 damage AND apply the Burned Special Condition to the Defending Pokemon. (DP:Great Encounters FAQ; Feb 21, 2008 PUI Rules Team)
