I know its pretty cliche to talk about what I did the morning of the event and how I got ready and how I chose my deck, so I wont bore you all with that.
HOWEVER, I did have something out of the ordinary happen on the way over. That I will share. I have my license now so I drove myself to the event today. Im a good driver and my parents would agree. So anyways, Im just starting to come out of the curve of a circular on ramp of sort (Wet roads) and so I start to accelerate again. Bad Idea. Apparently my SUV didnt feel like hanging onto the road and I feel the rear end start to slide out. My SUV was starting to drift, and when I turned into it, it was fully drifting! Very fun, but also scary. So yes, SUV's CAN drift, I just dont advise it. lol
Back to my main topic;
Further more, my record at this event wasnt great, but non the less, I'll post a report. (My first report for the season)
Guardian Games Battle Roads (Portland OR)
I was playing my newley assembled SP deck; Doom Dragon. (Absol/Garchomp)
Round 1: VS BlazeChomp
First round was a pain because i had to play against my friend Seth K. He's a good player and SP matches are a pain for me.
So I get to go second and start off with a Bebe search because it was the only supporter I had...
I get out Garchomp C first. I use warp to remove my lame starter and claw swipe his active Uxie (I think) for 30. He Collectors for his Chomp and whatever else. Guess what? He had DCE AND E-Gain. He earthquakes me for KO and the game was basically over. His garchomp cycle had begun and I was never able to set up.
I realized that my misplay, as small as it was, cost me that game. Should of left chomp on bench. Oh well.
0-1
Round 2: VS Ursaring Prime/Tyrannitar Prime
I had a real slow start this game. It was frusterating because I could of won on like turn 3, but my draws were random junk like Palmers or the lv X or something I dont have yet. I finally draw into a Sableye and start setting up.
His first active was his Ursaring Prime and he slowly starts hitting with Hammer Arm. He wasted a few Special Dark energy on it too, thinking he would get the damage boost. (Uh, no.) After way too long, I start spamming wiht Absol G's Darkness Send power. I get rid of his other Ursaring and a DCE.
I finally realize that I could easily KO ursaring after all; DOOM NEWS! So yeah, I doom news him and he decides to go for the KO on Absol G. But then he gets KO'd as well. It was a good move imo because I was neglecting to attack it otherwise. lol
For the rest of the game, I just snipped around his Ttar and took easy prizes.
1-1
Round 3: VS BlazeChomp
This was another one of those matches that makes me want to punch a baby. lol JK.
I was up against my other friend Ben L. I think I got to go second here too and I focus on my garchomp c again. Unlike round 1, I manage to be smart and conservative this time and set up my cycle, taking a prize nearly every turn. He just couldnt bounce back this game.
Sorry man.
2-1
Round 4: VS DialgaChomp
Sigh....Another SP match. Im struggling to play MY SP deck well, let alone learn how to combat ANOTHER SP deck... SP decks are meant to adapt to the situation, but im still in the learning phase of these decks, Learning HOW to adapt.
Anyways, he gets a lame start and I T2 or T3 Dragon Rush his only benched Garchomp C. I power spray a couple Galactic Switches of his and manage to power my way through his defence. I spam with Darkness Send a LOT this game. I remove his Garchomp C, Cyrus's Conspiracy, and a couple other cards with it. Nice. Time gets called, but Im down to my last prize with a bebe search in hand and waiting Garchomp C on bench. GG.
3-1
Round 5: VS GengarPlume
I was NOT happy for this match. Normally I wouldnt care because Absol hits them for big weakness. However, I found myself only able to get out Garchomp C and FINALLY by late game, i get my 1-1 Dialga G tech out. Wasnt soon enough to really counter. I managed to get the game close, down to my last 2 prizes, but no victory. I also misplayed by using Doom News on his Mewtwo lv X. I got distracted and forgot about the full effects of its body... Oh well again...
3-2
Final Round (6): VS Jumpluff with Plume
I was surprised to see a jumpluff deck. I had thought they died without claydol. Oh well. I get an Azelf start AND go first. I attach energy and pass. He Collectors into 2 Sunkern and a hoppip. After his move is finished, his pokemon are still un evolved.
I Triple flash bite his hoppip and snipe another of his pokemon with Absol G.
We exchange a few prizes until he gets out a surprise Vileplume and ruins my life. lol
After the game was over, the few people watching had noticed my hand and told me about a better move i could of made and might of won had I done it.
Im still learning SP decks overall.
3-3
