Hello PokeBeach readers! Isaiah here, and I am happy to be writing another article for you all! Last time, I discussed Archaludon ex and how I felt it was best to build it in the current format and also how it might change in the new format. Notably, that article was written before the Vancouver Regional Championships happened (although it was published afterward), and my deck list for Archaludon ex / Origin Forme Dialga VSTAR was remarkably close to the deck list that ended up finishing in the Top 8 of that event. Personally, I still think this deck is one of the best decks pre-rotation and I expect to continue playing it at my local-level events until I can’t anymore. With that said, rotation...

I don't get, from a Pokemon standpoint, why they didn't make Radiant cards a staple of every set. Rest in goddam piece, Greninja, Charjabug, Blastoise, Charizard and Eternatus. I will miss you more than I'd miss most real people if they left this world....

I miss V-Onion cards more. Rest In Peace Greninja and Zacian...

Oh, brother. V-Unions. The cards with the potential the size of the moon, that weren't even offered the simple kindness of having one for every type. I remember when Mewtwo V-Union dominated PTCGL for about 8 months and then everyone just...forgot. They straight up didn't even try to make them the next big thing, they dropped 4 (2 of which were the same type and painfully mediocre) before giving them the bird and moving on to VStars.

The F block is definitely up there among the most impactful rotations I’ve experienced, and I have been present for nearly every rotation since around mid-XY, excluding the formats between Team Up and Battle Styles. The amount of high-impact cards leaving is kind of unbelievable. Even excluding the cards listed that are rotating, there’s still:

Lumineon V, Rotom V, Forest Seal Stone, Irida, Switch Cart, Magma Basin, Kirlia, Entei V, Raikou V, Raichu V, Radiant Alakazam, Radiant Hisuian Sneasler, Dark Patch, Canceling Cologne, Trekking Shoes, Thorton, Temple of Sinnoh, Collapsed Stadium, Lost Vacuum, Wyrdeer V, Hisuian Heavy Ball, Pokestop, Snorlax, Cresselia, Cyllene, Lost City, Team Yell’s Cheer, Miss Fortune Sisters, Gift Energy, Delphox V, and Oranguru V.

This is not to mention cards that used to be meta, obviously, but shoutout to Hisuian Goodra VSTAR, Whimsicott VSTAR, Kyurem VMAX, Alolan Vulpix VSTAR, the Regis, Decidueye VSTAR, Radiant Heatran, and more for being cool cards in past meta/anti-meta decks.

Don't forget about the Amazing cards from Vivid Voltage and Shining Fates. I feel like these cards were ahead of their time as early Tera ex Pokemon.

Amazing Rares rocked, they weren't tied to ant generational theme or gimmick so them dropping them isn't excusable in any capacity. Unlike something like Prisms or Plasma cards

You get it, thank you

Plus, I'm super glad about V-max cards going. They deserved this from the start. That much health and 3 prize card toll, It's like TCG was asking for this when they made V-max cards.

I think more than anything I'll miss Lost City.

Such a damn good tech card that flew under the radar for so long. Also shout outs to Cheren's Care, great character and a card that has won me tons of games in its legality.

I think mew vmax is positioned really well going into this next format. Most of the best decks crumble to a well timed judge + path. And the best part is, they’ll never see it coming
It’s been a year since JustInBasil prophesied that rotation was not enough to stop Mew VMAX, and its best results have been a couple of day 2’s at a Regional and the odd League Challenge top cut. I’m starting to wonder if JustInBasil is a false prophet.
