Need basic vocab assistance

Hi guys,

I've been collecting cards for a few months now, and I try to make it down to the local league every week to play against the locals. I browse PokéBeach for deck suggestions, but I find I'm not up to snuff on my understanding of vocabulary, terminology, etc. Is there a resource I can reference to explain what this all means?

Here are some examples of what I'm talking about:

- I have no idea what HP-on & DP-on are.
- In the Deck garage, I'll see something like this in a deck list: "3-2-3 Ampharos (2 PT 1 SW)", and don't understand what the leading numbers mean. I assume the "PT" and "SW" stand for certain expansions/releases, like Platinum and Secret Wonders, but I guess I could be off there too.

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

X-X-X-X means the stages of pokemon.

4-2-3-1 Champ X means 4 machop, 2 machoke, 3 machamp, and 1 champ X.

Read the guide for commonly used terminology for more.

Here are some examples of what I'm talking about:

- I have no idea what HP-on & DP-on are. HP refers to Holon Phantoms. This means that all sets after and including Holon Phantoms are legal for tournament play. The same goes for DP-(or, Diamond & Pearl)on
- In the Deck garage, I'll see something like this in a deck list: "3-2-3 Ampharos (2 PT 1 SW)", and don't understand what the leading numbers mean. I assume the "PT" and "SW" stand for certain expansions/releases, like Platinum and Secret Wonders, but I guess I could be off there too. As Juliacoolo said, a 3-2-3 Ampharos (2 PT 1 SW) would mean that the line of Pokemon would be 3 Mareep, 2 Flaffy, 2 Ampharos from Platinum, and one from Secret Wonders. Refer to this handy thread for any other questions you may have; if it doesn't address other questions you have, feel free to ask!

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
