I'm getting into VGC sort of and need help on my team

006-my.png
M Charizard Y @Ite
Ability: Drought
Nature: Timid (-Attack +Speed)
EVs: 252 Sp. Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
-Solar Beam
-Heat Wave
-Protect
-Dragon Pulse

My sun man basically, Everything is standard I believe so there isn't much to explain is there? Not sure if I need another sun man on my team though.

003.png
Venusaur @Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
Nature: Modest (-Attack +Sp. Attack)
EVs: 252 Sp. Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
-Sleep Powder
-Protect
-Giga Drain
-Sludge Bomb

There to abuse the sun with his ability. I might take out Growth for Giga Drain or something but I'm unsure. Not sure what item I'll give him either.

695.png
Heliolisk @Leftovers
Ability: Solar Power
Nature: Modest (-Attack +Sp. Attack)
EV's: 252 Sp. Attack, 252 Defense, 4 Speed
-Thundebolt
-U-Turn
-Protect
-Hyper Beam

Basically my water check and a hard hitter. T-Bolt is obvious, U-Turn to duck and cover, Protect to get a SP up, and Hyper Beam because I couldn't think of anything else.

Need to fill in the last 3 spots. Can someone help me out? Thinking I'll want a physical attacker so I'm not walled by Goodra.

Possible add ins:
445.png
@Leftovers
Ability: Rough Skin
Nature: Jolly
EV's: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
-Substitute
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide

@???
Ability: Gale Wings
Nature: Adamant
EV's: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
-Brave Bird
-Flare Blitz
-Sword Dance
-Roost

RE: Sun Team. Need help.

Use this Venusaur instead, I think it will work much better.

Venusaur @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
Nature: Modest
EV: 4 HP 252 SpA 252 Speed
-Growth
-Sludge Bomb
-Giga Drain
-Sleep Powder

RE: Sun Team. Need help.

You don't need the full 252 Speed on Venusaur to get the most out of Chlorophyll, 252SpA/136Spe/122HP is the spread I run and that puts Venusaur at 117 Speed, which with Chlorophyll puts him at 234 Speed, which outspeeds anything that isn't Scarfed or Boosted. I also run Protect over Growth, if you double protect with Charizard on the Mega Evolve you'll outspeed anything meaning a free Sleep Powder on whatever you want. I'd also suggest possibly getting Ancient Power on your Charizard to OHKO opposing Zards.

RE: Sun Team. Need help.

Moved from RMT because this isn't a (relatively) complete RMT but a team waiting to be completed, so it still has discussion value. Continue as normal.

As a Physical Attacker try Mamoswine. Yes i know he doesn't benefit from the Sun so don't say that but he does help with a common drought team problem:Dragons. He has priority with Ice Shard and will scare Dragons out of the game or make your opponent from not putting them in.He can also setup late game Stealth Rocks if need or go with 4 attacking moves. Try this set.

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock/Super Power/Stone Edge

A pretty basic set but a very good one. the last slot is up to you if you want to damage a Poke on switch in go with Rocks but if you want all out attack the use Super Power or Stone Edge depended on your teams needs.I use Jolly nature because Mamoswine has a base speed of 80(Thats the same as Dragonite!)so you can surprise people with a powerful EQ or other move. Hope i have helped!

My only problem with this is the Orb which I already have... Any other item that may be good on him?

Sorry i forgot about that rule but some items could be:

Expert Belt- Boosts Super Effective attacks.
Focus Sash- Just to hang on a little longer.
Shell Bell- Restores 1/8 of your health based on the damage you did.

There are probably better items for him besides these ones and Life Orb but i couldn't think of any others.

The best idea for Mamo is to have the Focus Sash if he cannot run Life Orb. As Phantomhaze mentioned, he does not do well in the Sun, but can easily get rid of Dragons. This is why the Focus Sash is really needed, as even with Thick Fat, Mamoswine can still easily die to any Fire move under Sun.

The above Moveset is still the best out there for Mamoswine. Just run the Focus Sash so you can bring out the Stealth Rock when you need it.

As for adding to your team, I ran a Sun team back in B2W2, heres what I would suggest thats on par with Mamoswine, or a good alternative, as well as another useful slot.

Sawsbuck @ Expert Belt

Ability: Chlorophyll

Adamant Nature

252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 HP

Horn Leech
Double Edge
Mega Horn
Protect

I know what your thinking. Why Sawsbuck? Well that Base Speed is what! Despite having a Fighting weakness added ontop of the existing ones, Sawsbuck isn't to be underestimated under Sun. A Base Speed of 95, and a Base Attack of 100, he can punch holes in teams that wouldn't have seen it coming. He also provides a useful Physical Attacker for you. While Goodra takes only neutral damage from this, it is not an answer.

Heres what I suggest over Mamoswine. Do with this suggestion what you will.

Salamence @ Lum Berry / Choice Scarf

Jolly / Naive Nature

Ability: Moxie

252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP

Dragon Dance / Dragon Pulse
Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Fire Fang / Fire Blast

This is a fearsome Sweeper when it gets going. You don't always need to worry about Stealth Rock in the VGC, it's not common place as I have seen anyway, albeit with Talonflame it may see a rise in usage. If you play your cards right though, Salamence is to be feared and NOT taken lightly. Move choice is up to you, and with the nature you choose. Naive allows for SpAtks to be used, while Jolly is for pure Offense.

This also allows you to get kills on Dragons, which as aforementioned hinder teams like this. I used Salamence all through Gen 5 and had great success with it. I used the Lum Berry / Naive set.

I won't be using Sawsbuck as it isn't in the Kalos dex's. Forgot to mention this is VGC fixing that now. Sorry! As for my Dragon check I'm thinking about going Garchomp.

@Choice Band
Ability: Rough Skin
Nature: Jolly
EV's: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
-Outrage
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge

Thoughts before I decide to add him? And thank you all for your help! It's much appreciated.

I would take off Outrage and Stone Edge and instead use Rock Slide and something else. I've been using Fire Fang but it really hasn't been holding up. You might also want to consider Life Orb on Garchomp and maybe Black Sludge on Venusaur.

Yeah not sure why I put Stone Edge over Rock Slide. I'll think about attack number 4. As for the item I think I'll keep the Orb on Venusaur for now.

Edit: Iron Head for the unexpected. Kidding.

Excuse the double post. I'm thinking about adding Talonflame as well. It wrecks everything especially in the sun with Flare Blitz. I'll leave possible adds in the main post however

You will in all likely hood need a second sun summoner. Not sure what to do with that. However I do have another spot you could use.

479-h.png

Rotom- H @ Sitrus berry

Modest Nature

252 HP / 252 SpAtk / 4 Def

Overheat
Thunderbolt
Thunderwave
Protect

Sort of a bulky spread that has a bit of bite to it. Its basically a standard Rotom-H but it can bake its opponents if unsure of what's going on. It's a bit of a dark horse really.

I would also like to suggest you throw on another Ground type Pokemon. Ground is really great on a Sun team as typical checks/counters can easily be disposed of by this type.

Hmm... I actually kind of like this Rotom idea. I'll add him to the possible adds.

As another ground type maybe the Mamoswine that was mentioned earlier. I'm most likely going to add the Garchomp.

Alright I don't think I'm using this team. Help me out with this team please: http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/thread-vgc-team-help
