Ello:),

I need some help with building my Lucario (steel) deck.
''Especially now I need a new deck, to ... finally defeat a specific someone :)'' .

Well, this is what came out of it:
#Note that this is my first sketch of this deck, and is not completed or checked. Also it was builded based on the cards I had.

8 Pokemon:
4 Riolu
4 Lucario (Steel)
? ...

12 Trainers:
4 Target Whistles
3 Random Recievers
3 Team rocket handywork
? Ultra Ball
? Hex Maniac
? Professor Birch Observation
? Trainers mail
? Vs seeker
? ...

? Energy:
? Steel Energy
? ...

How I came up with this, I'm not sure. All I can say that this is my first sketch to build this deck.

What I know is that I certainly need some help with this.

@arno If you want to build a deck focused on the new FAC Lucario, let's first review this Pokémon line:

Lucario – Metal – HP110
Stage 1 – Evolves from Riolu
[M] Vacuum Wave: 50 damage. This attack’s damage isn’t affected by Weakness or Resistance.
[M][C] Fight Alone: 30+ damage. If you have less Pokemon in play than your opponent, this attack does 60 more damage times the difference in the number of Pokemon you and your opponent have. (So if you have one Pokemon and your opponent has six, the attack does 30 damage + (60×5) = 330 damage).
Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: Psychic (-20)
Retreat: 2

Your main attacker, Lucario, has a main attack whose significant damage is based upon the difference of Pokémon each player has in play. So, your game strategy is to "encourage" an opponent's large bench while you maintain a smaller size bench.

It's Basic, FAC Riolu, is a Fighting type and there are lots of solid support for Fighting type Pokémon, but this particular is a bit underwhelming, IMO:

Riolu – Fighting – HP70
Basic Pokemon
[C] Double Smash: 10x damage. Flip 2 coins. This attack does 10 damage for each heads.
Weakness: Psychic (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

To support your Lucario line with other Pokémon, there are a variety of options. For example, incorporating:

  • 2-2 or 3-3 Bronzong (Metal Links) line would help with energy-attachment acceleration;
  • 2-3 Seismitoad EX whose Quaking Punch attack Item-locks your opponent; provides you some time to setup, and help protect your Fire-weak Lucario; and/or
  • 1-2 Skarmory (ROS) has 2 Colorless attacks: the first can help setup your bench when you start with this Pokémon, and the second attack can inflict "decent" damage (60) for CC energy cost.
From the Trainers side, consider incorporating:
  • 2 Delinquent - to force your opponent to discard 3 cards (hopefully Pokémon too) when a Stadium is in play
  • 2 Level Ball - to also help get <90 HP Pokémon onto your bench
  • 1 Lysandre - to force the promotion of an opponent's benched Pokémon to the Active position
  • 2-3 N - for card draw and opponent's hand disruption
  • 3-4 Professor Birch's Observations / Shauna - for card draw
  • 4 Professor Sycamore - for card draw
  • 4 Puzzle of Time - to recover needed cards from your discard pile
  • 4 Sky Field - in order to maximize your opponent's bench size and make your Target Whistle very effective
  • 4 Super Scoop Up - to pick-up or recover a Pokémon in order to reduce your in-play Pokémon count
  • 3-4 Target Whistle - to recover and bench opponent's discarded Pokémon
  • 4 Trick Shovel - to discard cards from opponent's deck
  • 3 Ultra Ball - for Pokémon search
  • 4 VS Seeker - to recover and reuse discarded Supporters
Consider building and testing a deck with the above suggested cards (use proxies, if need be, as well as M energy). Try different combos of cards and test more till you have a deck you are comfortable with. You can also submit a completed deck list to the Deck Garage for further, refined comments too.

For reference purposes, someone recently posted his/her version of a similar deck: http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/threads/lucario-steel.132428/

Lastly, Enjoy and have fun.

Thanks you, it gives me a better vision of the deck.

I have tried to make a second sketch based on your deck , its quite hard without having it tested but here we go.

12 Pokemon:
4 Riolu
4 lucario (steel)
2 bronzor
2 bronzong

40 Trainers:

4 max elixer (for being quickly ready)
4 puzzle of time
4 super scoop up
4 target whistle
4 professor sycarmore
3 sky field
3 wally
3 ultra ball
3 trick shovel
2 professor's birch observations
2 vs seeker
2 skyla
1 lysandre
1 Deliquent

8 Energy:
8 steel energy

+ so , I added max elixers to make sure I get the energy and have a faster start-up.
+ Also, I added skyla to get a better grip on two puzzle of time's , aswel for other cards.

- Reduced some other cards to make more space, however this makes me more unsure about the change to get the correct cards.
- Also I'm stil worried about the number of basic pokemon, 6 sounds really low, maybe testing would fix that? I hope

I'm still trying to balance this, but I think I must first test it. (badly enough next saturday I won't be able to test the deck at the league, so It could take some time)

But what about this second sketch ?
