Hey all, I'm a new user around these parts and I'm hoping that I can get some advice on a Mega Mewtwo deck I just finished building online the other day. The deck is currently 19-10 which is decent, but I've been running into some obstacles. For starters, my opening hands have been terrible when it comes to drawing basic Pokémon. More often than not, I mulligan a few times and then only draw a Trubbish. I know it's mostly luck, but still. Secondly, I've had a lot of matches where my draw power has been limited. 4 Sycamore and 2 N aside, I just can't seem to get momentum when I need it. I know a Shaymin would be an amazing add, but I don't have access to one. So I guess what my main question is, would you change any of the Trainer cards I'm using?

* 1 Mewtwo-EX EVO 52

Why are you playing the evo mewtwo? Not saying it's necessarily wrong but damage change is a big part of this deck and you really should be maximizing your chances of having access to it. Changes I'd make:

- 1 Mewtwo EX Evo
+1 Mewtwo EX BKT 158

-1 Ninja Boy
-1 Town Map
-1 Special Charge
-1 Psychic Energy

+1 N
+1 Float Stone
+1 Mega Turbo
+1 Spirit Link

Optional to try if you still are having trouble set up

-1 Escape rope
-1 Garbodor
+1 Mega Turbo
+1 N

W extra N and float stone and since you're already playing 4 trainers mail trubbish getting stuck should go way down and you should hit draw supporter more often to help continue set up.

I'm running the EVO Mewtwo simply because I don't have a 4th one with Damage Change. I do agree with you. I plan on switching it out once I get my hands on a 4th one.

I run Ninja Boy to help when I only draw Trubbish or Hoopa in my starting hand. Being able to switch either out for a Mewtwo EX in that scenario is huge. I'll admit that it's useless otherwise, but I've been thankful when I needed it and had it.

I consider Town Map to be a staple in every deck.

As for Special Charge, there are times when my DCE are in the discard pile and I need them back in my deck. They're too valuable to this deck's success to have them sit in the discard pile.

Regardless, what I'll do is make a copy of the deck and make all the changes you suggested to see if it runs better. Thank you for the help!

Maybe try to decrease the amount of 1-ofs in your deck. You currently have 7, and say in a matchup you need that card and you can't get it/it's prized, oh well. gg

Super Rod, Town Map, and Escape Rope are all, in my opinion, deck essentials. I run Special Charge because of how critical DCE is in this deck. They are cards I wouldn't run multiples of, but are still important.

I find Pokémon Ranger necessary due things like Regice. I almost lost a game to Regice before drawing Pokémon Ranger and shutting down it's Resistance Blizzard effect. I know that's only one example, but I have to have ways to deal with it.

Ninja Boy, as I explained in my post above this one, has a specific purpose. I would say that if I were to remove anything, this card would go first.

Yes I understand some cards are needed. But for consistency, you might consider dropping Ninja Boy and Mewtwo EVO for Mewtwo-EX from BREAKthrough and another Mega Turbo.
