Standard Need opinions and Suggestions on this Toxapex-GX/Lunala Deck

Hey all, I wanted some opinions on my deck list. It relies on super intense poison from Toxapex GX, then Wings of the Moone from Lunala. Then the Lunala GX can transfer the energies back to Lunala. Regular toxapex is for the toxic spikes ability, and Espeon is an extra attacker.

Mareanie (GR)-4
Toxapex (SM)-2
Toxapex GX (GR)-2
Eevee (SM)-1
Espeon GX (SM)-1
Cosmog (SM)-3
Lunala (GR)-2
Lunala GX (SM)-1
Tapu Lele GX (GR)-2

Rare Candy-3
Choice Band-2
Field Blower-2
************
Poison Barb-2
Ultra Ball-4
Prof Sycamore-2
Prof's Letter-2
Float Stone-2
Lillie-2
Brigette-1
Guzma-4
Acerolla-2

DCE-2
Psychic Energy-10

I would need to check this, but can Toxapex-GX's Super Intense Poison be used if the opponent is already poisoned? If not, you should lose everything else that poisons them - Poison Barb, and the other Toxapex.

I also would remove Eevee, Espeon, and the DCEs because they don't fit in this deck. They don't really add a new dimension; they are still an evolved, psychic type GX. I would also remove the Poison barbs in general since there are probably better tools to use.

I would go 2-1-2 with 2 Rare Candies for Lunala GX. Toxapex-GX should be your attacker here, and switching between Toxapex and Lunala would not be fun.

Where I would like to see this deck go is the Seviper from Burning Shadows route. They increase poison damage with their ability, which becomes very valuable in this deck. That makes Poison Barb really good (if you can still use Super Intense Poison). And at that point, you could remove Choice Band since you are only going to be poisoning and not actually doing damage.

And finally you could be doing a lot of healing with Toxapex and Lunala. Switch the Prof. Letters and a Lillie for 3 Max Potions and then you can move the energy off, max potion, then put it back on.

In terms of drawing cards, you definitely want 4 Sycamore and 4 N. How you fit that in with the rest is up to you.

So you think I should abandon the idea of Lunala being the main attacker? My friend played against a deck that used Toxapex GX for Super Intense Poison, then it would switch out for Lunala to attack with Wings of the Moon, then the Lunala GX could move the energy right back. Does this just not seem like a valid strategy?

I think it's unnecessary. Super intense poison does 10 damage in between turns, so 100 to their turn, and 100 back. That's 200 damage. Each seviper would add 20 damage, and you can go from there. If you were to try and rock with non-GX Lunala, I'd run it without Toxapex. The two don't mesh, imo. Lunala as its own deck can be annoying with max potion and moon winging or whatever for 160 every turn with choice band. But I think you're trying to do too much in one deck.

Thank you, this input was really helpful!

What kind of trainers would you suggest?

Does your username have anything to do with LeRoi Moore of the Dave Matthews Band?

"Le Roi" is actually french and translates to "The King" I'm not french, just took french in high school and the name was a good one. I'll bet we got it from the same place though!

As far as trainers go, there are some staples that should be in either deck:
4 Sycamore
4 N
3 Guzma
1 Brigette (if Tapu Lele)
4 Ultra Ball (If Tapu Lele)
3 Rare Candy (for Lunala)
1-2 Rescue Stretcher (2 in Lunala deck, one in Toxapex) Usually put two in budget decks or decks that give up only one prize.
1 Super Rod (Mainly to recover energy, since psychic types can't do that)

Switch cards, Altar of the Moone in Lunala and Float stone in Toxapex because his retreat cost is more.

Lunala GX opens a lot of possibilities since its ability allows you to conserve energy. It makes Acerola, Super Scoop Up, and Max Potion so much better since the energy stays on the field.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Hope this helps too!

That's really interesting, because they have an album called Big Wiskey and the GrooGrux King, which was named for LeRoi Moore after his passing. Never understood why they called him that, but now I do!

And your suggestions were EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you so much for your help and input. About how many energies would you suggest? I figured 10

That's about right, 10-12 is usually the sweet spot.

And I'm glad I could enlighten you on the LeRoi Moore fellow lol.
