New English ORAS Trailer [9/12]

I paused my Orphan Black marathon to watch this trailer. Totally worth it.
The Abilities "Desolate Land" and "Primordial Sea" are going to be really fun in Ubers; no weather-changing, and cancelling out either Fire- or Water-type moves! Awesome!
And what does the trailer mean by "Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza makes its debut!" How does it make its debut in a remake of a game?? Is it more central to the story? I feel like we're missing a lot on Rayquaza now...

Mega Gallade looks dope. Way cooler than the static image we saw in CoroCoro.

Harsh Sunlight is going to be incredibly useful for Primal Groudon, it basically gets an auto immunity to its 4x weakness.
Heavy Rain may not be as useful on Kyogre (as it already resists Fire, plus its regular rain further negates the damage) but it may be handy if an opponent is trying to use Will-O-Wisp on Primal Kyogre or something.

The ingame footage of Mega Sharpedo, Camerupt and Gallade make me like them even more.

Have you guys noticed that in trailers where a Mega is shown off, often they're shown fighting another Pokémon that can Mega Evolve? I just went back and checked the older X and Y videos, and Pokémon like Salamence and Gyarados appeared frequently. In this trailer, we saw Shiftry and Dusknoir, I believe. Do you think that means they'll get Megas in this game or the next, too?

That's exactly what I was thinking when I watched the trailer. Groudon gains a huge advantage now, where as Kyogre doesn't really gain anything.

Really they should make the Heavy Rain stop grass damage as well, I was thinking something along the lines of the rain soaking vines and leaves (vine whip, razor leaf, leaf blade, etc.) to they become too heavy and fall to the ground before connecting.

Then again, because Primal Groudon gained the Fire type, it became even more weak to Kyogre. This makes it more even, in my opinion.

You realize Kyogre had the upper hand in every aspect until this moment, right?

It's actually as close to fair as it could get now. And it didn't even have to be.

They just so happen to feature Slowking now.
After we know about Mega Slowbro, and the fact that "Gardevoir" getting a Mega doesn't mean "Gallade" does not.

Someone is getting their head swallowed by a Shellder soon XDDDDDDDD

but joking aside.
Not all. There have been pokemon in vids that later gained mega evolutions, pokemon that already had mega evolutions, as well as pokemon who still haven't gotten one and were featured merely for "weak against showcased move"-effect.

We've seen Machamp and Hydreigon being kicked around by Megas, and while both even make sense (considering Alakazam and several pseudo-legends got theirs) they still haven't gotten Megas.

So it doesn't mean they'll get them and it doesn't mean they won't.

I kind off doubt Mega Dusknoir for example...as Banette already gained a mega instead of following its path.

So I made a list... (the /namehere/ means it has a Mega)

X/Y Mega Pokemon Trailers:
- Mega Mewtwo Y VS. Genesect, Rampardos, /Gyarados/, Machamp, and Zangoose
- Mega Lucario VS. Hydreigon
- Mega Mawile VS. /Tyranitar/
- Mega Absol VS. Golurk
- Mega Ampharos VS. /Salamence/
- Mega Charizard Y VS. /Venusaur/, Cryogonal, Flygon
- Mega Venusaur VS. /Blastoise/
- Mega Blastoise VS. /Charizard/
- Mega Garchomp VS. /Mewtwo/
- Mega Charizard X VS. Drifblim, Butterfree

OR/AS Mega Trailers:
- Mega Sceptile VS. /Swampert/
- Mega Blaziken VS. /Sceptile/
- Mega Swampert VS. /Blaziken/
- Mega Sableye VS. Mega Sceptile, Mega Blaziken, Mega Swampert
- Mega Diancie VS. /Sceptile/
- Mega Metagross VS. /Swampert/
- Mega Altaria VS. Shiftry
- Mega Salamence VS. Torkoal
- Mega Lopunny VS. /Sableye/
- Mega Audino VS. Mega Sceptile, Mega Blaziken, Mega Swampert
- Mega Slowbro VS. /Sceptile/, /Blaziken/, /Swampert/, Mega Charizard X
- Mega Camerupt VS. /Sceptile/
- Mega Sharpedo VS. Dusknoir
- Mega Gallade VS. Shiftry

Now only Pokemon from the X/Y and OR/AS Mega Trailers that didn't get a Mega or are known to not have one are...
X/Y: Genesect, Rampardos, Machamp, Zangoose, Hydreigon, Golurk, Cryogonal, Flygon, Drifblim, and Butterfree
OR/AS: Shiftry, Torkoal, and Dusknoir
While the ones that did are...
X/Y: Gyarados, Salamence, Mewtwo, Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, and Tyranitar
OR/AS: Sceptile, Blaziken, Swampert, Sableye, and Mega Charizard X was shown in Mega Slowbro's trailer

Now Primal Reversion isn't Mega Evolution, but could be related to it from what we've seen so far, here
Primal Groudon VS. /Blaziken/, /Swampert/, Milotic
Primal Kyogre VS. /Blaziken/, /Swampert/, Slowking
Rayquaza VS. /Salamence/

And I included Rayquaza because it contains a secret to Mega Evolution. I wonder though, they said Diancie holds the key to Mega Evolution, but never really explained it. ;n; Would be nice to explain in OR/AS instead of ignoring it and moving to Rayquaza.

EDIT: Quoted the wrong person.

You're right about that part, I was looking at in terms of other battles though (against friends and such). Groudon is going to be a pain to deal with without the water weakness and Kyogre doesn't gain much by stopping fire from hitting it.

Serebii says that the new abilities make the weather permanent until the Pokemon switches out, and I'm wondering what the source for that info is. Is that on the official site? What about the demo? I want to be excited to play a bit of the game early, but they didn't show their source. The new abilities look terrifying, and I'm happy they made Groudon and Kyogre stand out while retaining their weather-based attributes.

The new abilities are awesome and it's extremely useful for Groudon! I was worried about it getting killed by Bubble Attack every Water-type move with the x4 weakness and about the fact it gained an even bigger weakness against Kyogre and other Water-type Pokémon. I guess the weakness against Kyogre could still exist, depending on which ability goes through. It's not going to be fun for Groudon to be stuck in Heavy Rain. Groudon does gain a lot more from its ability than Kyogre, but I feel like it kind of deserves that, with its type disadvantage. Imagine Kyogre in a double battle with a Pokémon like Mega Scizor, though. Both abilities are going to be very useful in double and triple battles.

If the rain is so strong enough to nullify Fire-type moves and the sun strong enough to nullify Water-type moves will Ice-type moves turn into Water-type moves? it would make a lot of sense to me that types that don't do well in these weather conditions get some damage during those turns.

Gallade reminds me of Zorro now, with the cape and blade. It's so awesome. <3

umm what? where are these random spikes on Mega Sherpedo's sides?

It does say:
The fangs in Mega Sharpedo's mouth have transformed, and the horns that have sprouted from its nose can be regrown countless times.

I guess this means the horns can also be removed and aren't always visible. It could be an error, but I think there's a reason behind it.

considering the ORAS page for mega sharpedo mentions that it can regrow them countless times, I wouldn't be surprised if they were just something that grow out whenever it uses an attack.

(although I like the concept of them and how it makes m sharpedo look like a sawshark, I prefer its appearance without them)

I do like the abilities cancelling out Fire and Water-type moves making Primal Groudon not take any damage from Water-type attacks instead of the 4x weak it would.

Unless if it's facing down a Primal Kyogre, which in case it's screwed.

wow nice I didn't read that part about him. If he can make them reappear and disappear when and after attacking that would be great
Otherwise these fangs/horns/spikes/teethes things should go away I also think he looks way better without them.
