New Onix Error?

Has anyone else noticed this? http://pokebeach.com/scans/unleashed/56-onix.jpg

Onix's Pokebody works for any Pokemon, not just itself.

Make me wonder if this is a typo since the Japanese translation only has Onix healing itself.

yeah I saw that too. They will probably just fix that translation error. It will be a boss at all the prereleases though.

Or Bangiras could have translated it incorrectly? Not to put down their skill or anything.

Maybe.

However, if that's the case, its Poke-body is just to good for a simple common.

There must be an error somewhere.

ummm...that isn't neccessarily a "too good" poke-body...as it only takes off 1 dmg counter/energy...so in order to make it really worth while, you will either: have to attach multiple energies, use in conjuction with cards like Leafeon (RR), Feraligatr (Prime) and/or Dawn Stadium, or find someway to make it so you take very little damage during your opponents turn

not only that...one particularly popular card in the format says hi for a shut down....DGX anyone?

I have nothing but faith in Bangiras' translation. Her work is usually proven more accurate than TPCi's own team when discrepancies have come up in the past. Yaminokame's translation also points to Bangiras being correct. I'd say Onix is in need of an errata.

Ok, so assuming there isn't an error, RR Leafeon Active, leveled up. 4 onix on bench. Another Leafon X on bench. Dawn in play. You can heal for 280 per turn. Wrap you mind around that...

lol...c'mon now PW, nobody is going to set all that up...and I believe unless you have the active Leafeon X'd as well...you will only be able to heal 210 dmg

Impractical? Yes. Awesome? Yes.

I said for a Common its "too good". I didn't mean it should have been Holo or Secret Rare. At least as an Uncommon it would have made sense, but it's not.

Of course on its own its not much to look at,but it would mainly be used as a combo card above all else.

I would think having a searchable Dawn Stadium of sorts would greatly improve energy acceleration decks that attach from the hand.

Not really 'too good', considering it costs a bench spot. Good? Possibly. Broken? Absolutely not.

Too bad Uxie and Azelf take up a bench spot after their one-time only uses.

Is Onix good? Depends on ruling. Broken? When did I say that?

This all of course depends on the ruling which, more than likely, will be changed.

honestly, I like the fact that something like this is a common, even with a change in the ruling...while if it is changed to just itself, it sets itself up for Steelix (Prime)...and if not, gives a lil' help from cheap decks like SP's

I did not mean to imply that you said broken. That wasn't directed at you, more at the general hype around the card.

Nobody will really play Onix except in Steelix prime decks, even with the body. It's Luxray bait with its absurd retreat cost, costs a bench spot, and does not have a decent attack.

As for Uxie and Azelf, both effects have so much more profound of an influence on a game. Uxie can rescue an awful start, and Azelf can save your only Dialga X (for example) from the prizes. Onix? Not so much. Also, consider that neither Uxie nor Azelf are terrible starts. While maybe not optimum, they are not the same as a lone Onix start with 4 retreat and not even the option to Poké Turn like Bronzong. Heck, Onix can't even retreat with Moonlight like all the one-use power Pokémon people use.

there are other ways to get it from being the active other than retreating...warp point, warp energy, switch, etc....

^But you have to draw into those. Not to mention that an opposing Tomb shuts all but Warp Energy (which most decks play 1 of, if any) off.

however, if they drop an opposing Tomb, they are going to be sitting with it there for a while...giving you a chance to do what you need to do
