Hi im kinda new to the game ive been collecting old sets for over 10 years now and found the tcg online and i just love it .
I play online but still want to build a real deck and play it against ppl.
now i have few questions:
***what are good decks to start of? ***
i have some decks in the tcg and i thought about few things :
M Mewtwo / grabodor
xerneas break / giritina
Volcanian / volcanian EX
Gardavoir / xerneas break
ill appricate advices about how to choose my first deck ( i will build more after the first one if i like the game and keep play it wich i think i will ).

*** Today 90% of my cards are EX power keepers and olders how should i get new cards ***
I realy want to get new cards so i can stack cards for trade but i dont know if it will pay off
should i buy booster boxes ? loose packs ? tins ? blisters ?
or should i just buy singles to get my cards for deck and not risk with boosters?

A difficult point about the boosters issue is that i play online pokemon tcg so codes will realy can help improve my decks and exp via online game.

I will appriciate any help and advice =)

Welcome to the game!

1. Well, to get a good grip of the physical game and to get some nice competitive cards, the "Rayquaza VS. Keldeo Battle Arena Deck" is a start. The decks are alright in expanded, but you really get a good value with cards like VS Seeker. Look in the Deck Garage forum for new deck ideas.

2. The best way to get new cards is simply to purchase singles. It's overall far cheaper than trying your luck with packs. You can find many people selling cards on the Pokebeach Marketplace or eBay. Codes can also be bought for rather cheap; one dollar USD per code seems to be normal.

Feel free to ask any other questions (though I'm not the most knowledgeable).

IMO, all of these are very solid and competitive (Standard format play). I've either played with and/or against all of these decks multiple times. Another group of decks you may also want to review are the Dark deck variants (e.g., Darkrai-Garbodor-Giratina, Darkrai-Zoroark-Yveltal, etc.) too. Checkout the Deck Garage for different examples of these decks. Afterwards, select one(s) you like, build a draft deck and submit it to the Deck Garage for more , specific suggestions for improvement. Needless to say, you can play-test your deck online too and live (even if you need to use proxy cards before investing in the actual cards).

Personally, I first cards online and may even test the new card(s) online before I actually purchase them. When I do decide to purchase cards, I usually go online and purchase individual cards, because I have a chance to shop around for the "best" price. However, I do enjoy opening new packs too; so, I may only buy 1 booster box or 1-2 tins (often times you know what cards you're actually getting) sometimes.

If you want code cards, I'd suggest trading for or buying those too (from your Poke pals).
