Hi guys!

New player here! I've been trying to find the same sort of resources I used when deckbuilding in Magic the Gathering but it's not nearly as easy to find!

I've been trying to find:
- Deckbuilder (a TappedOut equivalent?)
- Complete Standard-Legal Card List with Pictures.
- Meta-watching site like MTG Goldfish?

Without these I'm struggling to construct my first deck! I'd be extremely appreciative of any help!

This website is a really good resource when you have questions or want help with deck building, lots of knowledgeable players here. I'm not familiar with Tapped Out to know exactly what functions that would have that you are looking for. PTCGO (The PC/Tablet version of Pokémon) allows you to play online and build decks, which make for easy copy/paste into these forums.

From Pokémon's own website you can see the results of the larger tournaments. Seeing what made top cut is a good way to follow the meta and see changes as each tournament goes on. http://www.pokemon.com/us/play-pokemon/pokemon-events/championship-series-event-results/ Be aware that some of that list are standard, and some are expanded.

Pokémon's website also has a card search function, and you can filter it based on Standard or Expanded sets only if you like. http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-tcg/pokemon-cards/?1-sm=on They have images. There are also apps that list out all the cards by set. I like Pokellector, but you would need to know where standard or expanded starts in order to effectively use the app to view legal cards. (Primal Clash-current for Standard, BW-current for expanded)

There's also the event locator, which is the best way to find local leagues, tournaments, and league cups/challenges near you. https://www.pokemon.com/us/play-pokemon/pokemon-events/find-an-event/?mo_ar=true&so_ar=true

Hopefully these help, if you have other questions please post them. If you want some ideas of where to start for good standard decks, Decidueye variants have seen some success, Darkrai is good, Volcanion is still decent, and Lurantis variants are also getting popular. I haven't followed the most recent large tournaments as closely as I would like so check those and ask more questions before dropping money on cards.

Also, just as an FYI rotation happens in September annually. Since you reference MTG I assume you're familiar with how that works, but some of the most powerful standard cards are expected to rotate. Just letting you know in case that would influence your deck decisions. Once things rotate out of Standard they will still be legal in Expanded play so it's not like the cards are instantly worthless. Even if you don't play Expanded you can just trade/sell them away.
