Was wondering if at the end of the year when Sun and Moon drop is the TCG going to start a new set/series? From what I understand X/Y has been the current set for a couple of years now. Anyone know? I don't want to put a lot of money into the current set if in a couple of months a new series is going to start. Thanks in advance.

If past trends continue, the SM sets will begin in February (with maybe a miniset before then, a la the Kalos Starter Set).
Also many of the XY sets will remain legal for play for the next 2-3 years. The official rotation for this year hasn't been announced yet, but it's looking like it'll be Primal Clash-On. So even if you did start collecting XY sets now, you'd still be able to use them for a while alongside SM.
